Osborn Correctional Institution is a medium-security state prison for men in Somers, CT. It was built in 1962 and received its first inmates in 1963.

History[edit]

1963 Opened as State Prison in Somers[2] 1967 Transfered to new Department of Correction[2]

1969, "trustee" prisoner David F. Mabery stabbed warden Frederick G. Reineke while on a work assignment at the warden's home. He then forced Reineke and his wife to drive him to Hartford, where he was recaptured a day and a half later[3]

1969 renamed Connecticut Correctional Institution, Somers[2] 1994 downgraded from maximum security to medium security and renamed Osborn Correctional Institution[2]
