Georgie Ndirangu[edit]

Georgie is a broadcaster and global moderator, with a background at BBC, CNBC Africa, and Forbes Africa. He has interviewed global figures, and has transitioned to agency roles supporting major accounts across diverse regions. He is currently leading Pan-African Program Communications at the Mastercard Foundation.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Georgie was born on 30th August, 1988 in Mombasa, the son of Shelmith Ndirangu and Joseph Nduhiu. His family lived in Changamwe, Mombasa during his early life. Georgie attended Thika Road Christian Primary School from 1993 to 2001, then later attended Kagumo High School in Nyeri, Kenya between 2003 and 2006. After high school, Georgie obtained a Diploma in JAVA (Programming Language) at the Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT) in Nairobi, then pursued his Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) from 2007 to 2010.

Career[edit]

Ministry of Housing, Kenya[edit]

Georgie Ndirangu started his professional career with a contractual role at the Ministry of Housing, Kenya, where he worked for 11 months.

Following his tenure at Ardhi House, Georgie Ndirangu transitioned into the world of media, taking on the role of a News Anchor and Business Show Host at Radio10/TV10.

Radio10/TV10[edit]

Georgie joined Radio10/TV10 in December 2012, where he dedicated his efforts as a News Anchor and Business Show Host. His responsibilities included delivering news updates and hosting business-related programs, contributing to the media landscape in Rwanda.

TV10: Pioneer In Private Television[edit]

TV10, a private television network in Rwanda, was Georgie Ndirangu's platform for delivering news and business content. Launched in September 2012, TV10 is the first private television station in Rwanda.

Ministry of Youth and ICT, Rwanda[edit]

From September 2013 to September 2014, Georgie Ndirangu served as a YouthConnekt Moderator under the Ministry of Youth and ICT in Rwanda.

As a YouthConnekt Moderator, Georgie played a role in facilitating discussions, events, and activities aimed at connecting and empowering the youth. The Ministry of Youth and ICT (MyictRwanda) headed the YouthConnekt initiative, creating a platform for youth to engage in entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership.

Georgie Moderating the Social Good Summit Rwanda[edit]

One notable event during Georgie's tenure as a YouthConnekt Moderator was his involvement in moderating the Social Good Summit Rwanda, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and ICT and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

CNBC Africa[edit]

From July 2014 to July 2018, Georgie served as a Senior Presenter & Producer at CNBC Africa. During his four-year tenure, he played a role in producing and presenting content that provided insights into the dynamic economic landscape of Africa.

Notable Work: Head to Head With 8 Presidents[edit]

One of Georgie Ndirangu's contributions during his time at CNBC Africa was the series titled "Head to Head With 8 Presidents." In this series, Georgie engaged in in-depth discussions with African Heads of State, delving into the readiness of their countries to embrace digital interventions.

United Nations Economic Commission for Africa[edit]

From December 2014 to July 2018, Georgie Ndirangu served as a Moderator on contract at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. During this period of 3 years and 8 months, he played a role in moderating a series of panel discussions for functions organized by various United Nations implementation arms, including UNDP, UNECA, and UN Women.

Kigali, Rwanda[edit]

Based in Kigali, Rwanda, Georgie contributed his moderation skills to events organized by the United Nations, fostering dialogue on critical issues related to economic development, sustainable practices, and gender equality.

Forbes Woman Contributing Writer[edit]

From April 2016 to July 2018, Georgie Ndirangu served as a Forbes Woman Contributing Writer for 2 years and 4 months. His initial contribution to the Women's franchise, Forbes Woman, marked the beginning of his engagement with Forbes.

During this time, Georgie brought attention to issues facing women in various spheres, contributing thought-provoking pieces that reflected his commitment to advocating for a level playing field.

Forbes Africa Contributing Writer[edit]

In addition to his role with Forbes Woman, Georgie Ndirangu contributed as a Forbes Africa Contributing Writer during the period of December 2016 to January 2017, spanning 2 months. He co-wrote a piece for Forbes Africa that highlighted the transformative role of cricket in Rwanda. The article explored Rwanda's achievements in breaking international world records and the construction of its first international stadium for the sport.

BBC Global News Apprenticeship[edit]

In a five-month apprenticeship from November 2020 to March 2021, Georgie played a role as a Development Team Member within the BBC Misinformation Hub. This initiative by BBC Global News aimed to address the challenges posed by misinformation and disinformation in the digital landscape.

Georgie's apprenticeship at BBC Global News marked a period of active engagement in the fight against misinformation, contributing to the BBC's commitment to upholding journalistic integrity and ensuring the public receives accurate and reliable information.

From July 2018 to August 2021, Georgie served as a Multimedia Broadcast professional at BBC News. In this role, he played a part in the production and dissemination of news content across multiple platforms.

Portland[edit]

From August 2021 to April 2023, Georgie served as a Consultant at Portland, a strategic communications firm.

Samsung Mobile[edit]

From August 2022 to April 2023, Georgie Ndirangu served as a Creator under contract with Samsung Mobile. Based in Kenya, he played a role as part of Samsung Kenya's creators within the mobile division, contributing to the development and promotion of mobile technologies.

Mo Ibrahim Foundation[edit]

Since January 2020, Georgie Ndirangu has been a part of the Now Generation Network at the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, contributing to initiatives aimed at fostering positive change in Africa. The Now Generation Network is a platform for young and emerging leaders to engage in discussions, collaborations, and actions that contribute to the development and progress of the continent.

Mastercard Foundation[edit]

Since January 2023, Georgie Ndirangu has been the Head of Pan-African Program Communications at the Mastercard Foundation.

The Mastercard Foundation advances education and financial inclusion across Africa, with a focus on empowering young people.

Doris Mollel Foundation[edit]

Since November 2023, Georgie Ndirangu has been serving as an Advisory Board Member at the Doris Mollel Foundation, an organization with a primary focus on providing critical care and support for prematurely born babies.

Mission and Impact[edit]

The Doris Mollel Foundation is dedicated to the care and livelihood of prematurely born babies across the region. As an Advisory Board Member, Georgie contributes his insights and guidance to support the foundation's initiatives aimed at making a meaningful impact on the lives of these vulnerable infants and their families.

Georgie collaborates with other Board Members to shape the strategic direction of the Doris Mollel Foundation.[1]

BBC Smart Tech[edit]

Georgie is associated with the BBC Smart Tech project, a new 12-minute technology segment within the BBC's Smart Money program. This initiative features 20 Smart Tech pieces set in 20 different African countries, broadcast across 20 episodes of Smart Money. The project highlights African innovators and their scalable tech solutions aimed at addressing challenges on the continent. Not limited to high-tech solutions, the focus is on inventions that make a meaningful difference in various aspects of African life.

The United Nations Development Programme[edit]

Georgie Ndirangu has been associated with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since September 2015. His involvement includes hosting and moderating the Social Good Summit in Rwanda, where key stakeholders in ICT, technology, and innovation come together to explore ways to create applications that benefit both urban and rural areas, fostering efficiency, job creation, and improved access to information.

Business Agenda TV Show[edit]

As part of the team associated with Radio10/TV10, Georgie Ndirangu co-hosted the Business Agenda TV Show from January 2014 to July 2014. This platform, airing on TV10 RWANDA, provided insights into various personalities and businesses in Rwanda, covering diverse sectors such as the stock market, regular market, communication, tourism, arbitrary development, information technology, and related fields. The show aimed to inform viewers about potential career paths and guide them in making informed decisions about products and services based on their budget.

Published on CNBC Africa on March 29, 2016, Georgie's article delves into Rwanda's achievements in health system development over the past decade.

Georgie’s analysis extends beyond Rwanda, touching upon progress in Uganda with the administration and outreach of a new drug called 'Sayana Press,' which aids in family planning.
