Faye Moyes (b. 1966) is a Scottish data scientist and researcher based at the Centre for Biological Diversity at the University of St Andrews[3][4]. Her research focuses on spatial and temporal trends of global biodiversity change[1].

Research[edit]

Moyes completed her B.Sc. in computer science at the University of St Andrews in 2005 with a dissertation on artificial intelligence titled Get me out of here, I'm a robot![5]. In 2014 Moyes helped create the BioTIME global database of biodiversity time series, a database of over 12 million records of species abundances for 50,000 species[6]. In 2018 the database was made open access and has since been used by ecology researchers around the world[7]. In 2019, she published research demonstrating how fish assemblages had changed over the last 30 years in the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea[8]. Much of Moyes' current work focuses on fish and marine biodiversity and as of August 2020, her work has been cited over 1100 times[9].
