• Yardley residents - 'Yardleians'.
• Urbanisation in Yardley - interwar period, ribbon development
• Trust School - front is 16th century, as is side. Brick is 19th to 20th century.
• Industry of Yardley - tile and brick making. Mainly rural. Ponds dug out to get clay to spread on fields.
• Transport - Coventry Road realigned when Redhill holloway abandoned, steep. Birmingham and Warwick Canal, Yardley Wharf where cemetery is now.
  • Trams - horse buses in 1897, then steam trams to Hay Mills. Cole bridge replaced in 1903, electric trams to the Swan in 1904. Electric trams to Stuarts Road in 1928 via Bordesley Green East (new road). Trolleybuses to motorbuses.
  • Aviation - helipad on Heybarnes Recreation Ground - flights to Elmdon and London. Brief 1951-52.
  • The Swan - underpass work 1965-67. Cut area in two and destroyed famous local focal point - The Swan pub.
  • Coventry Road - road widening at Hay Mills. 1984-85.
• Yardley Rural District Council - 1895-1911.
• Conservation area (city first) at Yardley Village in 1969. Upgraded to outstanding 1976. Road widening proposed in post-1918 town planning scheme.
