Hailing from Ocean View, Hawaii, K.O.A. was formed in 2015 by Vocalist/Guitarist Erik Wilcox and Vocalist/Bassist Justine Hanchar. The band released the debut CD entitled "Soultaker" [1] and played shows across Hawaii. The song “Falling Through the Cracks” from their debut CD was featured on a Rocktopia Compliation CD and was featured in Issue 79 of Fireworks Magazine. [2]
In 2017 Drummer Laura Roberts joined K.O.A. to complete the lineup. With this lineup, the band chemistry and live show dynamics were undeniable and the band felt unstoppable.
Their second CD, “The New Norm” was released in 2017 to positive reviews. [3] K.O.A reached #2 overall in the state of Hawaii, #27 nationally, and #37 globally in number of plays on Reverb Nation [4] The single "Beach in Hawaii" had over 5000 plays on Spotify and the band had over 300 monthly listeners. [5]
After a slew of shows to support “The New Norm”, the band landed a coveted spot in the 2017 Kona Rocktoberfest. [6]
2018 marks an exciting new chapter for the band as they’ve returned to the studio to prepare a follow-up to “The New Norm” with a planned late fall release.
