Roughing out some ideas on how to handle Palestinians in the Jordan article. Probably under Demographics. Potential Sources (need to check reliability)

My naive understanding is that in 1948 Jordan annexed the West Bank region and gave the residents citizenship (which, thinking about it, probably explains changing the name from Trans-Jordan to Jordan since the country was now on both sides of the river). In addition many other refugees from what became Israel took up residence on the east side of the Jordan river (current Jordan); I think they also got citizenship. In 1968 Israel occupied the West Bank and more Palestinians fled to the east bank. In 1988 Jordan renounced its annexation of the West Bank and endorsed a separate Palestinian state. Since then the status of the Palestinians in Jordan has not always been clear and some have lost Jordanian citizenship.

Palestinians who left to Jordan in 1948 were granted Jordanian citizenship. Since West Bank was under rule of Jordan between 1948 and 1967, Palestinians living there were given Jordanian citizenship. When Israel captured West Bank in 1967, Palestinians in West Bank were no longer living under Jordanian rule and so in 1988, Jordan stripped West Bank Palestinians from their citizenship. Thats all. Now there are both Palestinians with and Palestinians without a Jordanian nationality, the former makes up the majority of Palestinians in Jordan. The 2 million figure is for both Palestinians with and without citizenship... I don't think it deserves a section of its own because the info are too short and the sources you provided here aren't really reliable . Makeandtoss (talk) 13:59, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
