Fawzi Karajeh (born November 20, 1957) holds a PhD in Soil Physics and Water Resource Management from the University of California at Davis, Dr. Karajeh has more than 30 years of experience in the field of water resource and irrigation management and non-conventional water resources management with a focus on wastewater treatment, desalination, {enter other fields of specialization}. His scientific and technical activities include managing over 40 research and water related developments projects in North America, Near East, Central Asia, North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa in cooperation with the California Department or Water Resources (DWR) and International Center for Agriculture Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA). He authored and co-authored over 75 publications in scientific journals and books, he is currently ICARDA’s Regional Director for the Nile Valley and sub-Saharan Africa (NVSSA) Program based in Cairo, Egypt. His duties include the development and implementation of goals, policies, and strategic plans of ICARDA, while overseeing the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the conservation and management of land and water, and improved productivity of small ruminants in integrated farming systems in dry areas of the NVSSA countries and its associated programs budgets.
