The Start Of Tanks[edit]

seige tank

The history of tanks starts from medieval times. All the modern tanks started with this, siege engine. This wasn't really a tank it was more of a siege weapon. Which isn't the same as any tanks you know.

A Big Change In Military History[edit]

The first British tank made during ww1 called "Little Willie", invented by Lancelot de Mole[1], and William Tritton[2] (1915).

The first real tank called "Little Willie", invented by Lancelot de Mole[1] and William Tritton[2]. It is a big metal machine with two canons on the sides and a machine gun on the front. This was the first tank to be made for battle. This new machine marked a turning point for the Allies. The German forces didn't have the best weapons for this beast. But the tank usually gets stuck in trenches or ditches.

The first German tank made during ww1 called "Sturmpanzerwagen A7V", invented by Joseph Vollmer[3] (1914-1918).

Not long after,  Germany made their own tank called the "Sturmpanzerwagen A7V", invented by Joseph Vollmer[3]. But the tank had a similar problem, and it was a bit worse than "Little Willie". Because the Sturmpanzerwagen A7V was like a moving metal box with guns on it. The Sturmpanzerwagen A7V was a big target for tanks or explosions. But the Sturmpanzerwagen A7V was also effective, being able to take out some enemy tanks and help the soldiers take over some trenches.
