Dave Morey is an American radio host and DJ.[1][2] Morey's broadcasting career spaned nearly forty years, of which twenty-six were spent at the San Francisco radio station KFOG.[1][2] He has sometimes been called the Voice of KFOG.[2]
Early life[edit]
Morey was born in Michigan and spent his childhood in Detroit.[1][2] He had an early interested in music, spending most of his allowance on Motown records.[1]

Morey began working at KFOG in 1982 where he wrote commercials and served as the midday DJ.[1] In September of 1982 Morey was the DJ on-air when KFOG transitioned from elevator music to rock 'n' roll.[1][2] Instead of making an annoucement of the format change, Morey simply began playing Rock This Town.[1]
Morey began hosting the KFOG morning show in 1992 after having refused the position previously because of the early hours and because it seemed "too loud ... too bells-and-whistles" for his style.[1]
In honor of Morey's 20th year at KFOG, KFOG held a weeklong celebration in 2002, and San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown declared September 16th, 2002 to be Dave Morey Day.[3]
