Subjective bio...

I'm Cameron Fiala. Better known as "Cami", or if you want to keep it really short call me "Cam". I'm an Aviation [Rescue Swimmer] in the Navy just trying to get a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I love everything outdoors and I am an avid adventurer. Come along for the journey and for some fun stories.

This is a great picture of a "10 and 10". Where a swimmer would jump out of an MH-60S in order to rescue a survivor. This is my job.

Growing up I have always been told "Get comfortable being uncomfortable"(Peter McWilliams). Now I live my life by that. If you become stagnant in your life then you'll never advance. You have to put yourself into uncomfortable conditions in order to grow and be better. I am an avid swimmer, power-lifter, camper, and climber. I'm constantly doing something and being active.

Cameron Fiala (born June 9th, 1999) is an Aviation Rescue Swimmer in the United States Navy. She is best known for her contagious smile and ambiguous lifestyle. Cameron, also known as ‘Cami’ or ‘Cam’ is an avid outdoors-women. Before joining the Navy, Fiala was known for her tremendous athletic ability. She holds swim records at her high school (Lake Park High School) in the 200 Medley relay, and 400 free relay. She also holds the indoor school record for Pole-Vault at 10ft 9in. While in high-school she hit a major setback. Tearing her ACL she lost all ability to gain a scholarship to college, but that didn’t stop her. She attended Iowa State University in pursuit of obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She attended ROTC courses and had intentions of becoming an Officer in the United States Navy. Although this pursuit hit a wall when Cameron failed to see potential in becoming an officer or a Mechanical Engineer. Fiala changed courses and enlisted in the Navy in order to continue her love for swimming and adventure. In 2018 Cameron Fiala went to boot camp where she was promoted to AROC. Her leadership abilities and drive to succeed propelled her through the Aviation Rescue Swimmer Pipeline and after 3 years she rose through the ranks from E-2 to E-5. As a second class petty officer in the Navy, Fiala has flown over 600 mishap free flight hours in the MH-60S. She has over 300 days of sea-time and is fully qualified in her rate. Cameron is now back in school to finish her degree in Mechanical Engineering in hopes to create a better future for herself and prospective family.

Early Childhood and Family

Although Cameron was born in Joliet she was raised in a variety of places. From her early developmental years (0-3) Fiala lived in Channahon Highland Park area. She was one of two children from Eric Fiala and Sharon Waldvogel. The other child being her older sister Abigail Jacklin Fiala. Cami and Abigail (Abi) were insuperable as children. Around the year 2003 Camerons parents separated and the family eventually moved a town over to Minooka. Cami and Abi went to Minooka Elementary School and played in the t-ball league there too. In 2006 Sharon Waldvogel (Mom) moved North to Roselle to live with her boyfriend and soon to be husband Daniel Nolan. Daniel had two kids of his own; Ariana Nolan and Jake Nolan. Sharon and Daniel were married in 2007 and together had a son, Daniel James Nolan, in September 2008. As the commute became to much on Sharon and Eric, Sharon decided to enroll Cami and Abi into the same school as Ariana. Cami, Abi, and Ariana all attended St. Walter school. Cameron started St. Walters in 5th grade. The summer leading up to attending her first year at the new school, Cameron was put onto the local Swimming team; Roselle Racers.
