Fitz (July 18, 1976) was born in Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn and attended St. Thomas Aquinas of Flatlands Grammar School, graduating in 1990.He attended a wide variety of odd summer programs and lessons leading to his overall "jack of all trades" knowledge base, a habit he would continue into his adult years.

Following this he attended Xaverian High School in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn becoming involved peripherally involved with the New York Hardcore scene mainly as a commentator and critic. While at Xaverian he participated in the Model United Nations held by Harvard and Georgetown Universities and worked for a time in the Joseph House of the Catholic Worker Movement in Manhattan’s Lower East Side doing service with the City's homeless. He graduated in 1994.

Following this he attended SUNY Stony Brook where he would study Anthropology, Religious Studies and Studio Art. In addition to his Academic Work he became a student of Sensei Nobuoyshi Higashi in Judo, Tomiki Aikido and Jujutsu. During this time he became an active participant in The Process (collective) and worked as a Field Rep for Martin AtkinsInvisible Records. He took part in a field school operated by the Long Island Institute of Archaeology and was an irregular contributor at best to The Stony Brook Press. During this time he was a member of the band "Chin Slinky" under the assumed name "Igor Umlaut" and sang lead vocals and played glass bottles on their rendition of "Warriors Come Out to Play" from the 1970s classic "The Warriors." He graduated in 1998 with a BA in Anthropology

After graduating he worked for a short time as a sales representative for Steuben and worked in a variety of capacities in the Advertising and Legal industries until he found and forged a unique position as a photographer and media specialist in the legal division of Pfizer Inc. He would also become a contributor to the Dangermedia Guild, earned a Certificate in Multimedia Technology from New York University and worked as a forum moderator for America Online. He was a contributor to the ill-fated Tree of Light magazine along with such notable fringe authors as Robert Anton Wilson, Douglas Rushkoff, Stephen Edred Flowers and Genesis P-Orridge.

In 2002 he took part in a salvage project in the DK section of Olduvai Gorge. In 2003 he graduated from Coney Island USA’s Sideshow School having been taught the essential skills of Sideshow performance by Todd Robbins. He has stayed involved with Coney Island USA and has been involved in the operations of their annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade since that time. In 2004 he entered a Master’s program in Anthropology at Hunter College and is presently looking towards expanding his knowledge in Human Osteology and Forensic Anthropology. In 2005 he began training with the NY Ninpo Society to gain a better understanding of the role of the Takamatsuden as a means of cultural and imaginal translation.

This odd mix of Cultural Engineering, Anthropology, Corporate Whoredom, Carny Skills and Disreputable Schools leaves even him somewhat baffled as to what to make of it all.

Trivia:

  • Some people claim he's been writing on various forums under assumed identities, making good on the old joke that he was either one person pretending to be five or five people pretending to be one.
  • Although he is dubious of the title he is considered a "subject matter expert" in a several fields such as occult influences in popular and obscure culture, outsider groups and their means of survival and cultural transmission, and understanding conspiracy theory as a method of creating coherent narratives in an increasingly complicated world.
