Trainee Health Manangement Program[edit]

An Air Force medical program that applies Preventive Medicine (PM) and epidemiologic principles to control disease, reduce injuries, and optimize human performance in the military training environment. The Trainee Health Management Program (THMP) directly supports the Line of the Air Force (LAF) training mission and leadership by ensuring standardized Preventive Medicine and epidemiologic practices are used to promote health and prevent and minimize the impact of injuries and illnesses in AF trainee populations.

Training Populations[edit]

The THMP monitors all health events in all military trainees at Air Force Bases. It captures health events in both United States Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) and Air Force Technical Training programs.

Basic Training[edit]

BMT trains 30-45,000 trainees each year. BMT is designed to be both mentally and physically challenging requiring the individual to quickly adjust psychologically to a military way of life.

Technical Training[edit]

Air Education and Training Command (AETC) bases, trains enlisted airmen out of basic training in a specific specialty via various "tech schools."

Lackland and Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) currently has six technical training squadrons on base training multiple airmen in various Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSCs). The 37th TRG supports the following five training squadrons and also trains technical training instructors, military training instructors and military training leaders.
