The Reily Foundation[edit]

The Reily Foundation is an Australian charity founded in October 2019. The Reily Foundation's mission is to work in a collaborative fashion with families and child protection departments in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for families and children doing so with honestly, equity, transparency and authenticity.

History and Organisation[edit]

The Reily Foundation was founded in memory of 3-year-old Reily who died in tragic circumstances many years ago. At her parent's request, we do not share Reily's story.

Organisation[edit]

The Reily Foundation is based in South Australia where most operations take place. In time, the Reily Foundation aims to provide its services nationwide.

Logo[edit]

A major focus of the Reily Foundation is reunification, whenever appropriate, of families and children. Our logo is a stylised representation of a happy family at home.

Programs and Projects[edit]

Happy Families Happy Children[edit]

The Happy Families Happy Children program is aimed at providing advice and the tools needed to enable a family to successfully address the requirements imposed by a child protection department. In 2021, the program will be provided via a series of seminars covering the topics:

Working with families on supervised contact using trauma informed play
The legal system and the child protection system
Attachment theory and trauma based parenting support
Advocacy support whilst navigating the child protection system
Trauma informed therapeutic support for parents navigating the child protection system

The program is funded by a grant received from Mary MacKillop Today.

Let's Talk[edit]

Let's Talk is in the planning stage. It will a fortnightly opportunity for families to come together in a supportive network to discuss the difficulties of navigating the child protection system. The system can be very isolating for parents, specifically mothers who have had their children removed due to being deemed an unprotective parent causing emotional abuse to her children for not leaving the violent partner/father of children. This will provide an opportunity for women to see that they are not alone whilst seeking support in navigating the child protection system. The group will run twice a month in the Elizabeth and in the central business district of Adelaide for two hours involving an opportunity to support and learn over a coffee.
