Carren Emol Eistrup Frederiksen (born February 5, 2009), known professionally as Carren Eistrup (English: /ˈkærˌrɛn ˈaɪsˌtrʊp/; Tagalog: [ˈkaɾen ˈaɪstɾup]), is a Filipino-Danish performer and television personality.[1] She is known as the first Bida Next Grand Winner of Eat Bulaga!, naming her as one of the newest hosts of the noontime variety show in 2023.[2]

Early life and career[edit]

Carren Eistrup was born on February 5, 2009, in Cebu City, capital of Cebu province, to a Danish father and a Filipino mother.[3] She is the youngest of three children with the other two being her older brothers.[4] Growing up, her mother supported her interests in singing and music by entering her into local talent shows from the age of 5. Eistrup was also enrolled later on in a music academy and various public speaking and modelling workshops to hone her skills.[5][6][7]

2017: ABS-CBN appearances[edit]

In April 2017, Eistrup marked her first television appearance on ABS-CBN as a contender on Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids as Carren Frederiksen.[8] In September 2017, Eistrup was a guest talent in an episode of Little Big Shots Philippines where she started getting dubbed as a younger Miley Cyrus.[9]

2018: Eat Bulaga! & World Championship of Performing Arts[edit]

In June 2018, Eistrup made her debut on Eat Bulaga! and GMA Network when she joined as a contestant on Hype Kang Bata Ka! (transl. You Are A Hype Kid!) as "Kaye" or formally as "Carren Eistrup Frederiksen".[10] In July 2018, she participated in an international competition where she won 8 gold medals in the junior division and 8 gold plaques for the Champion of the World Division, as part of the national team representing the Philippines.[11][12] In August 2018, Eistrup returned on Eat Bulaga! to join the Hype Band cluster round of Hype Kang Bata Ka!, where she played the piano.[13] She made it through as a grand finalist but did not win the competition.[14]

2019–2021: GMA Network appearances[edit]

In 2019, Eistrup joined the fourth season of the talent search Toppstar Kids and appeared on the second season of the reality talent show Toppstar TV.[6][15] In 2021, Eistrup joined reality talent show Centerstage as "Carren Frederiksen", but did not succeed against her opponent.[16]

2022–2023: Bida Next[edit]

In August 2022, Eistrup auditioned for Bida Next, a reality talent search for aspiring Eat Bulaga! hosts, where she was reintroduced as "Carren Eistrup".[17] After a thorough series of tests and judging, in October 2022, Eistrup advanced to the Top 17 where she was dubbed as the "Bidang Cebuana Singer" (transl. The Star Cebuana Singer).[18]

On January 7, 2023, the Top 5 candidates advancing to the final round were announced, namely Sheena Palad, Kimpoy Feliciano, Miles Seño, Claire Inso, and also including Eistrup.[19] Another finalist, Marhia Sanchez, qualified for the finals after being saved through online voting, was introduced on January 14. Sanchez rejoined the earlier finalists, thus, forming the Top 6.[20]

The Bida Next Grand Finals was held on February 4, 2023, where the candidates faced the main roster of hosts as the judges and performed their final challenge: a full-scale production number. Eistrup was eventually declared the first Bida Next Grand Winner.[21] Her prizes include ₱500,000, a brand new car, and a one-million-peso contract with Eat Bulaga!.[3][22]

Eistrup became the youngest in the main roster of hosts, superseding Ryzza Mae Dizon.[23]

In March 2023, Eistrup featured in a digital extended play (EP), Bida Next, titled after the competition of the same name. She features alongside two of her co-finalists: Sheena Palad and Kimpoy Feliciano.[24]

Eistrup will be joining the original roster of hosts of Eat Bulaga since their resignation from the show's production outfit, TAPE Incorporated.
