Imogen Binnie is an American musician, blogger,[1] and author known for her novel Nevada,[2] which was nominated for best transgender fiction in the 26th Lambda Literary Awards.[3]
Binnie, a transgender woman, says she was inspired to write fiction for transgender people, instead of transgender memoir for cisgender people. Although she has eaten bagels and worked in coffee shops, Binnie's Nevada is not autobiographical.[2] Binnie's first novel, Nevada, became a cult favorite in the LGBT community, according to Emily Books, an independent bookstore, spurning positive reviews and a Facebook community to discuss her writing. However, Binnie has said that she doesn't feel "queer famous" and prefers to spend her time in relative seclusion, focusing on her writing.[1]
