History[edit]

Money.it is an online newspaper developed with the SPIP Content Management System[1]. It was founded in 2006 under the name Forexinfo with the aim of providing financial education related to currency investments.

In May 2016, the publication changed its name to Money.it[2] and expanded its editorial offerings, including sections dedicated to savings, taxes, employment, and politics. In January 2018, a new office was inaugurated in Milan[3], establishing the Studies Office led by Riccardo Designori, a financial analyst and notable figure at Finanzaonline until 2017.

Starting from 2019, Money.it also ventured into the world of video content, launching formats[4] such as InvestTv, Testa o Croce, Equity Desk, and Oggi in Borsa. These formats include in-depth analyses and interviews with prominent figures in Italian politics and economics, such as Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, Claudio Borghi, Marco Rizzo, Michele Boldrin, Valerio Malvezzi, and Luigi Marattin.

In April 2019, the economic-financial network including Money.it, Informazionefiscale.it, and Scuoladitrading.it ranked as the leading aggregator of economic and financial information in Italy in terms of unique users, reaching the fifteenth position in the overall ranking of Italian online information, according to ComScore, an independent measurement company.

In January 2021, Money.it initiated an editorial partnership with Cointelegraph Italia[4], published by Acta Fintech, a prominent independent information portal in the fintech sector, focusing on news related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

In the first quarter of 2022, Money.it introduced several innovations, including the opening of a new editorial business unit in Milan and the addition of new journalistic figures for the Rome office.

The editorial team in Milan is led by Dario Colombo, the new Editorial Manager for the B2B Area, a journalist with extensive experience in hi-tech specialized publications who managed a project supporting the activities of the European Parliament in the economic field. In Rome, Gaetano Cesarano[5] arrives as the Editorial Director, a professional with vast journalistic experience and a specific focus on the automotive sector, for which he is responsible within the publication.

In March 2022, Money.it ranked first in the Business and Finance category[6] according to ComScore, based on Italian digital information data.

Starting from March 2022, the expansion and growth of MoneyMag.ch[7]—the economic-financial magazine of the editorial group dedicated to Swiss Italian-speaking regions—were announced, with the opening of a new office in Mendrisio, in addition to the existing one in Lugano.

In November 2023, Money.it signed a significant syndication agreement with the Financial Times[8]: the agreement underscores the commitment of both publications to providing readers with quality information and authoritative analysis.
