Robert Vanarsdall Jr. (1940-2017) was an American Orthodontist. [1][2]
Life[edit]
He was born in Crewe, Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree from College of William & Mary. He served as line officer in United States Navy from 1962-1965. He then received his Dental Degree from Medical College of Virginia and completed his Orthodontic training at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. In 1972, he started his career as a teaching fellow in the Department of Orthodontics. He became an Associate Professor in 1980. He eventually served as Chairman of the Department of Periodontics, Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Directer of Orthodontics at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine from 1981-2011. He died on January 1, 2017 and is survived by his three children: Son Lee and daughters, Lesley and Ashley Burke.
Career[edit]
He co-authored two books: Orthodontics: Current Principles and Techniques for its 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th editions and Applications of Orthodontic Mini Implants. He published chapters in 12 other textbooks and more than 100 scientific articles and abstracts.[4]
