Gorkhali Takma Band was formed in 2013 by Atul Raj Neupane Aka Safic Hop and Ajit Neupane. After bands active participation in various musical concerts, free musical classes and social work activities finally Ajit & Safic with some other members formed a non-profit organization “Gorkhali Takma Nepal” in year 2073 B.s. which works hand in hand with the band.
Gorkhali Takma Nepal is the charity approach by the band members. Gorkhali Takma Band has seen many faces come and go, but the name Gorkhali Takma and its popularity still exists with consistency. Gorkhali Takma has been a platform for talented musicians. As music is yet to become a sustainable form of profession in Nepal, long-term commitments from musicians remain rare.
Safic has remained the guardian, leader and currently the lead vocalist of Gorkhali Takma. With 2 albums and many single to its credit, Gorkhali Takma from its walking firiri (release in 2016) to sathi (release in 2019) to kathmandu (release in 2022) to Intu Mintu (release in 2022) has maintained its consistency in the market. Gorkhali Takma album is called walking firiri. First song was super hit in the country itself and also around the world and they are giving good songs back to back with amazing shows to the Nepali Music Audience.
Formation (2013)[edit]
A Country fusion Nepalese folk-rock band that was formed in early 2013 Gorkhali Takma band came into existence when Atul Raj Neupane A.k.a Safic Hop (Stage Name) and Ajit Neupane came up with an idea to form their own band after the completion of their music education training in Nepal music school and classical music classes in Indian cultural centre.
During their early bachelor’s day Social Work internship period two of them used to work with various organizations as music volunteer teachers. For the first time they worked in The Ani Foundation led by the Renowned Singer Ani Choying Drolma and then they worked in many other children’s homes (Orphanage Homes) inside Kathmandu valley out of which they preferred working with children and shaping up the future of upcoming generation.
they started working in collaboration with different children’s homes and started teaching and sharing life skills along with other arts which include music, photography, dance and painting.
Gorkhali Takma Band is one name in Nepali music which has gained consistent popularity and social recognition due to their social work-related activities and Project Musical Motivation in 77 districts including 500+ government schools In Nepal. They are bringing the joy of live music to children who need it most. Every child has the right to enjoy music.

Walking firiri the first track was released in 2016. It was a massive hit with around 6M views in youtube. Similary there are thousand monthly listeners on spotify music.
Atul Raj Neupane (2013-Present)[edit]
Safic is the founding member of Gorkhali Takma. He is currently the Band Leader and Composer/ Lead Vocalist of the band. Since 2013 when the band was formed, Safic has been part of Gorkhali Takma in all the shows in Nepal. His social and peace initiative during the past decade in Nepal has been highly regarded by all sectors of the society. Apart from Gorkhali Takma, Safic head the music wing under Ajit neupane and is also involved in doing research of folk music in Nepal for which he travels extensively through the country.
Ajit Neupane (2013-present)[edit]
He is a Professional social worker, film-maker, musician. He is also a Journalist who has been making stories on Child Issues. He has been actively involved in music as a vocalist and guitarist since last 10 years. As a Guitarist and vocalist Ajit has performed various shows with the Band in Nepal.
