From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The following is a list of online, freely-accessible sources which may come in useful for writing articles relating to Shetland. I have tried to fill out the cite templates for these as fully as I can, however if I have missed anything please feel free to edit them. I have also tried to categorise the sources as well for a few common topics related to Shetland - if I have missed any ticks, feel free to add them.

Some of the citations here deliberately have missing titles - this is because the website linked to has multiple different facets for which you will need to supply your own title (and update the URL for the specific page).

My recommendations for finding information on a particular topic are to search directly for the terms you need information about:

  1. Into Google
  2. Into archive.org, using the "Search text contents" option. This method in particular has opened up a whole new world of finding sources to me.

This list here may be more useful when these options are fruitless - or for anybody who wants to read more broadly about a particular topic.

May this be for the benefit of anyone who wishes to write about Shetland - please feel free to add to this list if you find something that is broadly useful for multiple Shetland articles.
