Life in the Roman times!


When the Romans came to Britain, they bought their way of life with them.Over the time the people of Britain and the Romans mixed and became friends.Life for Roman women was often very hard.Mother was less important than father in the Roman families.Father had power of life and death over everyone.When a baby was born, father would choose whether it will live or die.Women were expected to run the home ,cook meals and raise the children. Many girls were married at the age of 14. Marriages were often arranged between families.A man could divorce his wife if she did not give birth to a baby boy(how shocking).Many women died at in their 30s because childbirth could be dangerous and diseases were quite common.
