Mega Gem is an American indie-pop[6] band founded in 2011, based in Denver, Colorado. In 2012 Mega Gem released their debut album, Colors of the West, on October 19th with Wild Baby Records. Colors of the West features 33 musicians, including guest appearances by Stelth Ulvang of the American folk band The Lumineers[3] The bands lineup has included over 25[7] members through out its existence, the core group contains: Oliver Ceelen- Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Bass, Jennifer Rahn - Writer (Merry Go Round) Autoharp, Vocals, Saxophone, Clark Walker - Lead Guitar, Gang Vocals, Mia Bandy - Writer (Mia’s Sing-along) Vocals, Bells, Tomas Campos Drums, and Julia Mendiolea Bass.[8]
Mega Gem has shared the stage with numerous national acts including their very first show with Defiance, Ohio[9] and Paul Baribeau[10]. Opening for the album release show was the Denver band The Kissing Party [11]. Mega Gem also played with The Lumineers, at the Meadow Lark bar. In the Summer of 2012 Mega Gem was asked to open for the Wizard rock band Harry and the Potters[12] and the Harry Potter puppet pals.
Their debut album, Colors of the West, was give a 5 out of 5 star rating[13] and was noted as one of the top ten releases of 2012 by Marquee Magazine[14] "
