Saphir was a German synth-pop and disco band of the 1980s.

History[edit]

Besides Lead singer Arno Krause, Frank Niedeggen and Pierro Copertino belonged to the trio. In August 1985, they released the Single Shot in the Night, which reached No 37 in the German charts of German charts in September. In March 1986 they reached No. 45 with I am Alive. The singles I Feel Good (I Feel Fine) and The Witch-Queen of New Orleans', also released in 1986, ' failed to enter the German Hitparade chart

Apart from The Witch-Queen of New Orleans, a cover version of the hit of the American band Redbone from 1971, all the songs on Saphir's only Studioalbum Perfect Combination were written by Mick Hannes and Walter Gerke. The last two singles released from that album failed to receive much attention, after which the band split up.
