Hello. I've been using Wikipedia around two years now, and have edited things in the past when one could do so without an account, but I decided to create an account recently and have been making changes here and there

Scot Young Research[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you protested the deletion of this article. I've referred it to our area for contested deletions. You can contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Scot Young Research. Joyous | Talk 03:41, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:The Future Sound of London Lifeforms album cover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:The Future Sound of London Lifeforms album cover.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Famous Greenockians[edit]

You nominated the page Famous Greenockians but failed to include a reason to delete it or to create the deletion discussion page (see Template:AfD in 3 steps for how to properly list a page). I have cleaned up your nomination, but would appreciate it if you would say why the page should be deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Famous Greenockians. Thanks. License tagging for Image:4TelOnView.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:4TelOnView.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:58, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Preview, Group, Summarize[edit]

Thank you for your edits. Please consider 1) Using the Show Preview button (above the Save Page button), 2) Grouping edits together to reduce the number of edits in the page History to make it easier for fellow editors to monitor the edits, 3) Describing each edit with the Edit Summary box (above the Save Page button). Bruford[edit]

Nice one on the Bruford article, HisSpaceResearch. As I have been learning a lot recently about in-line citations (which are a lot easier than you think) I believe that the article needs more, but properly formatted. Take a look at the KLF page, or Paul McCartney. --andreasegde 19:34, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

I'll maybe try that sometime when I'm not busy.--HisSpaceResearch 20:06, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Cocktails[edit]

Hello. As a professional bartender (at least according to the userbox you added) you might be interested in the WikiProject Cocktails. It is a group of people at Wikipedia working together to improve the quality of information related to mixed drinks. Having more people participate who really know the topic from a professional point of view would be terrific. Please consider becoming an active Participant. Also, if you are interested, a name change is being considered for the WikiProject from Cocktails to Mixed Drinks, and you can add your opinions to the discussion and vote. I hope to see you around. --Willscrlt (Talk|Cntrb) 04:48, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

The place I work at only does a very limited number of cocktails. My knowledge of them is fairly average, so I'm not particularly interested in participating in the project, but thanks anyway. I may have a look at what the project has contributed, though... --HisSpaceResearch 13:44, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
No problem. Feel free to correct anything that you do find in error or misleading. Errors of omission are bad, too, if you notice any of those. We also cover non-cocktail mixed drinks, including beer mixes. Basically if you see one of our banners on the talk page, you'll know who that is now. :-) And if you ever change your mind, you're always welcome. Hhave a good week. --Willscrlt (Talk|Cntrb) 14:01, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Anglophone_and_Continental_Philosophy deletion[edit]

Hi there. I noticed you supported a "keep" for this article. No doubt the content is fixable, but the main issue (I take it) is that the title is unfixable. I urge you to reconsider your vote. { Ben S. Nelson } Lucidish 15:23, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Deletion review to change name[edit]

Hi, there is a undelete review to change the name of the Anglophone/Analytic article, see:

An Automated Message from HagermanBot[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 21:25, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Alright, thanks Bot, but I know that... I just forget to do it every now and then.--HisSpaceResearch 07:01, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Pink Floyd Invite[edit]

Hi! I've seen you around on Pink Floyd articles... Would you consider becoming a member of WikiProject Pink Floyd, a WikiProject which aims to expand and improve coverage of Pink Floyd on Wikipedia? Please feel free to join us.

- Doktor Who 15:40, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Todo list:
Fair use

Articles

  • Expand all articles to at least Start class. Some song stubs can't be expanded and should be redirected to the relevant album article. Use the "Interstellar Overdrive" article as an example when editing a song stub.
  • Expand all of the Floyd's studio album articles to at least GA status.
  • See COTM for monthly collabs.

Project building

  • Add WikiProject Pink Floyd banner {{WPFloyd}} to all appropriate Talk pages.
  • Personally invite quality editors working on Pink Floyd articles to join the project.

If you complete one of these tasks, please remove it from the list.

Yes, I might be interested. I certainly know my Pink Floyd... heard almost everything by them.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 15:55, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
On second thoughts, I may decline as I don't actually like Pink Floyd that much (everything up to but not including Dark Side of the Moon is my favourite period of the band). I'd prefer to concentrate on improving articles about my own favourite artists, but thanks anyway.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 02:44, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Icons versus big template messages[edit]

Hi HisSpaceResearch, I personally like the use of your icons instead of big templates. However, wouldn’t it be better to wait for more community input on them before implementing? It’s a rather big chance that potentially raises people’s adrenaline level if they didn’t see or talked about it before. Maybe Wikipedia talk:Template messages or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Templates would be places to start discussing the subject as well? --Van helsing 10:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I probably should do that.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 10:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
And have left messages about this on both of those pages.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 11:03, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Adding AfDs[edit]

Hi there. You should add an AfD in the bottom of the page, not the top. This is mentioned in the instructions in WP:AFD. Just a heads up. :) Cheers, - Anas Talk? 12:05, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Feeder (band)[edit]

Hi!,

I see you've awarded the Feeder article a grade B :). How would we go about making the artcile worthy of the highest grade?.

Cheers!!

Marcus Bowen 27th February 19:14.

Well, I met the band Feeder five and a half years ago at a signing, including the late Jon Lee...--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 23:11, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

re: kristeen young entry[edit]

i noticed that you mentioned you were looking for KY's age.

i have no idea how old KY actually is, but she is more likely to be in her 30s than 20s. she has been performing much longer than her solo albums, as she was in at least two bands- November 9th and Waterworks- prior to her solo endeavors. these albums were released between 1992-1994, and if you put her at 25 (which i'm not sure, that's just a round number) during that time, that would put her at 38 right around now.

granted, these are all estimates, but as someone who has a) watched her for the last 13 years and is NOW only 30 years old, and b) she is definitely at least four years older than me from the whole college thing, she's not in her 20s.

(ps- KY- don't kill me)

-jen g. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.37.5.5 (talk) 12:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC).

So Ms. Young manages to look a lot more young than she actually is? Kinda a bit like Bjork then... if she was in two bands before that and you know about it, could you add it to her Wikipedia page and source it? Interesting though, as I hadn't heard of her before I saw her support Morrissey. Is she only starting to kinda break into the mainstream now? --h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 13:06, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

External links and "symmetry"[edit]

Hi HSR,

I read your comment on the talk page at Wikipedia Talk:External links#Links normally to be avoided - something I'd contest. Right now I'm going through a bunch of deletions that people are making for the same reason of no "symmetry". I think that paragraph in the External links article is pretty ridiculous, and if there's a reasonable relationship between the linked site and the article then the link should remain. Do you think so now? I notice that this subject has come up again and again on that talk page, so there may be enough other people who feel the same way. If I attempt to change the policy, would you be interested in joining me and contributing some comments in support? I'm going to ask some of the other people who have voiced objections on that page. Please tell me what you think. Best, Noroton 23:18, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, I might contribute some comments in support if I see the changes to the policy you want to implement...--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 22:01, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

2000s - Names of the decade[edit]

What was it that you wanted a citation for? It appears ambiguous to me. Do really want a cite that verifies that "Noughties" sounds like "Naughty", or that Americans don't use "nought" to mean nothing? Either way, it seems like a silly request. The first is simply obvious to anyone who can read English, and the second—to this American—is equally well known. You could ask 1000 Americans the question: "Why do you suppose the current decade is known to many people around the world as The Noughties?", and not two out of that 1000 would recognize the origin as being from "nought". What is more, if you then explained it to the 998+ who didn't know about "nought", about half of them would still be confused, because they don't recognize, let alone use, "nought". 216.199.161.66 21:03, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

I was considering removing that altogether.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 22:05, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
I think that the explanation is still necessary. It works for me, pretty much, the way it is. 216.199.161.66 22:09, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Seems like unsourced original research to me.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 22:10, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Biophilia hypothesis[edit]

I highly recommend: Kellert, Stephen R. (1993). The Biophilia Hypothesis. Island Press. ISBN 1-55963-147-3. Great book. Cheers - Ozzykhan 19:59, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Alright, thanks, but I highly doubt I'm going to go to the effort of getting this book and reading it.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 20:00, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:FaustIV.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FaustIV.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:19, 8 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigDT 22:19, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Personal advertisement[edit]

You tagged Personal advertisement as needing cleanup, but as yet haven't commented on the talk page what you think needs to be done, as indicated by {{cleanup}}. I'm willing to do the work. —EncMstr 19:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

The article has no references and the list of acronyms that dominate the article are completely indiscriminate. Wikipedia is not a list of indiscriminate information. That list needs to be vastly reduced or removed altogether, with these terms appearing in a reliable external link or reference in the article, which should instead give an overview of the topic.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 19:18, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
I added references which cover all of the abbreviations. I don't think the list is indiscriminate as it covers every frequently used abbreviation/acronym/codename used on craigslist over a few months time. (But I can see why that would seem indiscriminate: it's the public at large.) —EncMstr 18:06, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Matthew Algie[edit]

Just wanted to make it clear that the "just because it doesn't exist in the US" wasn't intended as a crack at you for nominating it — on looking at it again I can see it could be taken that way. It's just a general venting against the same bunch of people who'll jump in to defend a donut stand in Topeka but happily vote delete on major European corporations (take a bow, Cool Blue and Oo7565)iridescenti (talk to me!) 17:53, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'm not actually American. If you read what I wrote, I put it to articles for deletion to gain consensus on whether it should be kept or deleted, although I myself said that I did not want it to go... thanks anyway. -h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 17:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Not saying you are - I'm guessing from your edit history Glasgow; as I say, that was a preemptive comment to the mob of deletionists who'll vote delete on it come what may because they haven't heard of itiridescenti (talk to me!) 19:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, a lot of people are too quick to make a decision in deletion discussions, it seems.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 20:01, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
