Welcome Everyone to the Age of Thermal Imaging

I am a published author in Thermal Imaging. I published a paper in 2007 entitled Calculating Radiating Heat Loss in Dwellings, Ovens and Other Structures - A Quick and Dirty Method at Inframation 2007TM which is a yearly conference dedicated to advancing new and creative uses in thermal imaging. I was only a very small part of this conference as over 60 papers were published and presented at the various forums over the week.

The upshot from this paper has been an increase in my awareness of what I call our Our Radiating Environment. What I hope to do here with the permission of the people who oversee Wikipedia, is to improve the Thermography page so that it more reflects the state of this science. I hope that I can increase awareness of the differences between air temperature and radiating temperature.

Many exciting things are in the works for thermal imaging. It has become a very useful medical and veterinary tool for the diagnoses of muscle strains and cancers which may show increases in blood flow close to the skin surface. It is used for proactive preventative maintenance in industrial, commercial and home, elecrical and mechanical systems. It can help to keep our food safe in grocery stores. It can keep us healthy by find mold growth in our homes. It is used by police to find evidence of grow operations in the drug trade.

I hope that we can get other thermographers to add their expertise in chapters for medical sciences, home evaluations, high voltage systems, heating and the myriad of other applications.

In short it is more than the pretty pictures of animals which are presently on display on the Thermography page of Wikipedia.

I have been interested in the radiating environmnt we live in and, as this was a crucial part of my publication last year, I have started a blog on AOL to highlight this environment. http://howtostopheatlossesinhomes.blogspot.com/. Please be sure to visit the archive posts at the top of the page to see other entries.

I hope it will allow everyone who views it to better understand the environment which affects heating losses in homes.

Thanks to all. Bill
