Hi yes. But from what I have seen a detailed full list of films by year is missing from wikipedia. On every page e.g 1894 in film that already exist for the films it will direct to the list, e.g main:List of 1894 films. I strongly believe that the list is extremely helpful particularly with the navigation box so every film that ever existed is accessible in front of thenm Obviously is is a tremendous task though but I genuinely believe that once the index of films is complete then I can start going through them systematically added them to wikipedia. I still have 112 years of film to cover!!! Also in due course I will be starting a navigation box full of films by country. e.g Albania Australia etc. I wil leave out the countries that have had less than 500 films they can go on another list. If you have seen how capable I am in my work e.g I mapped out the entire country of Slovakia and am half way throguh Hungary you will take comfort that I will be doing a great job. It would be great if people would work with me on this one. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Um, don't you think that it is a little rude that you are just disregarding all of their tons of hard work and making them a redirect and starting from scatch. This is the type of project that needs to be discussed first (it is huge). You will just be replacing all other work, your lists of country also replace the World cinema pages (Cinema of Australia, Cinema of the United Kingdom....) Cbrown1023 22:42, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Okay, but wouldn't it be better to just leave it to the category, because in your example, List of Albanian films, there were very few (3) films with articles (notable ones) and the rest were red links... I think this wouldn't be good in the long run. Cbrown1023 22:51, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Good job keeping an eye on this. I read all of the messages on his page and Cbrown1023's page as well. I think the lists were fine and didn't have to be created in a new format. This definitely should have been discussed first, especially for how significant it is to WP:Films. We could easily just move the index box Ernst discussed above to the pre-existing lists. However, the list of films by country could be a significant improvement to the lists, since mainly U.S./U.K. films are included. Let me know if you need me to discuss this elsewhere or help with the newsletter response since I would be happy to help you take care of this. By the way, (I have to brag), I spent the last week completely revamping the Samuel L. Jackson page and helped it to achieve Good Article status. Even though this is not part of WP:Films, but WP:Bio, I still think that actors, directors, and other film-related articles should also be listed in the newsletter when they become good articles (since they help to develop the films). Perhaps I'll bring it up to Cbrown1023 and maybe include all of these film-related articles each month for the newsletter (I should find a way to contribute to the newsletter in some way!). Anyway, again let me know if you need my opinion when the discussion arises. --Nehrams2020 22:52, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I strongly beleive that these full year lists and the country lists are really worth it. However to start with I will just set out the page like List of 1896 films bevcause from now there are over 500 films + so won't fit on one page. Once all the pages are started I will go through from 1896 onwards and list all of the films. I have completed from 1888-1895. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:04, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I have now set up the Template:Filmsbycountry so you can help now by listing these. There a some 120 odd countries not included in the box which I have listed on that page. I don't know whether to include them in the box (box will maybe be too big at the end) or list them on a seperate page entitled List of countries that have produced fewer than 500 films and then branch out from each of them? It is a star anyway. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:59, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Lists of films

No you have seriously misunderstood my intentions. What I am attempting to do it set out a list of films by year and country. Of course not every film is notable to have an entry on wikipedia these are lists for information purposes. I strongly believe that wikiproject:film needs to expand greatly and this is the framework to achieve this. And as for the problem with red links? After the lists are completed each article will be started BUT ONLY IF NOTABLE. Most films are worthy of an encyclopedia entry. I want to make wikipedia into the greatest resource base and providing information on films is an important element. Whre appropriate I will redirect to existing pages or provid elinks from them. I really don't know what your problem is. You seem to be a little hasty towards my presence. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

As far as I can see a significant part of 112 years of film is missing from wikipedia and many of these need to be established and written into worthy articles. If there is a problem with red links I will not wikify the film titles? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:08, 5 December 2006 (UTC).

I value your experience on film. Yes I agree with you that not every film should be covered but some films (not all I agree) which are regarded as unimportant are only unimportant because most people know very little about them. I believe that the lists should be drawn up but at present not turned into links. THis way we can limit the number of red links and stop it getting out of hand but still have knoweldge on wikipedia of such films existing. At a later date then most of the films which reuqire an encyclopedia article can be turned into a blue link not a red one. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:14, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes I absolutely respect that red links are not a good look for wikipedia. Gradually these red links will be removed and turned into full articles but this will take time and I wish to be part of wikiproject film in establishing these but gradually. From now on I will list the films without wikifying them so there is no compulsory intention that every film should be started. Then at a later date us film wikipedians can get togther and debate over which films are worthy of starting (many many thousands are missing) and then wikify them gradually into articles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:18, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Also part of the films by country articles is to attempt to decentralize film knowledge from mainly America, and English speaking countries to attempt to provide information from all areas of the planet but the films will only be started later if worthy of an entry. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:21, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I know that already wikiproject film and other branches like Indian cinema have done a brilliant job in establishing foreign film on wikipedia and I have seen evidence of many brilliant articles and hard work. Well done to everyone involved. I am just trying to expand this further by linking to other countries which are not covered yet.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:23, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Ah I see now what you mean now about starting all the red links in relation to the project list of missing notable films. Yes from now on I wil discuss with you and other members of the prject which films will be started so we can keep track of our work. Although there are thousands of missing notable films from that list of missing notable articles but these can be started at later date gradually!! Apologies for jumping in at the deep end I didn't mean to interfere with regulation. I promise from now on I will only list the films rather than cuasing so many red links!! Cool? I see that you have done an excellent job on international film awards. Nice work. All the best Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Cool. I know you are not interested in country of orgin films but I have broken down many of the countries which have few films and films not really that notable into regions e.g List of African films list of Caribbean films etc without red links! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:41, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I am tying each list in with the already established pages e.g Cinema of Africa to connect everything up. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:43, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Yes I have almost set up the list of films by country of the world. progress will be slower from now as this was my day off work. ALl of the larger film producers have there own lists but smaller producers are listed initally by continent all connected neatly in the one box. E.g List of Asian films but as this list becomes developed new country pages may need creating. The majority of films will all be listed but many films which are particularly insignifcant i.e zero information anywhere, very poor unsuitable film or a really dodgy low budget porn film may be left off the list and certainly will never qualify for an article on wikipedia. Each country is set out neatly e.g List of East German films with a neat quick index in which hopefully thousands of new qulaity articles will be created and accessed from this. My primary source is imdb although I do check on the films usng other sources e.g Biritsh film institute. Be test assured you and the rest of Wikiproject Film that my work is a significant step forward for wikipedia. I initally started List of Finnish films which I had been working on and actors before i had the idea to set out films concisely. As you can see I started with the letter A! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:57, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Every list is connected to the Cinema of .... and important cog in the wheel so to speak and for Finland I have even added a new section on the national country page for Cimena and the Finnish film industry so every is all connected up for infomration access anywhere. Six moths- one year down the line you may see that my country and year lists will seem good, particularly when we rid of those existing red links and created new detailed articles of world film each linked thourgh different sections of the project and the list of films. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:02, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Eventually I would like to see the majority of notable films with thier own articles on wikipedia like the start of List of Finnish films: A which I have started. But as we agreed as yet these are only major lists not articles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

If there are no objection I would like to set up the pages first ow on the years. I may complete up to 1900 and then just created the other pages. Then once it is done I will go throguh each year and compile a list and eventually when this is done I will start to go through each year generating as quality new articles as I can . Help would be great!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:13, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

On the years I'll start the pages from 1888 to 1919. Then I will compile the lists for every year. Working on twenty years at a time so we know where we are. Ok?

Pleas edon't lose patience with me. You will eventually realise my potential!!

If the lists of films are at present regarded as unencyclopedic I propose that changes are made to List of films by country and List of films by date maybe years. Rather than delete them I think each country should have the list of notbale films in order by year of release rather than an A-Z that the categories will eventually create anyway. This is far more useful which I believe Thai films and that have already done. Alos the format could be changed to a box With year and date of release in chronoligcal order and director of film by country. I notcied debate over the dates of film releases. If lists were drawn up of films by year then the same could eventually be done, from Januray 1st to december the 31st by year. This will not only be an expansion of the main pages e.g 1947 in film and Cinema of .... but will give more specific infomration about date of release in chronological order which is not present. This would also be a highly knowledgeable part of the Cinema of each country and year. Also the probelm with the redirects would be avoided if the lists accomplished somethin which categories cannot. E.g List of 1947 films would have pages as part of 1947 in film conveying infomration about films with date of rleaease in order of that year. So eventually we end up with an extremely useful timeline of all notable films released from 1894 to 2007. Can you see the potential for this? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:30, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Your thoughts?

What's your thoughts on this AFD discussion about the whole film lists situation? Are we thinking of completely letting all of these lists go, or somewhat merging them into the other film articles/lists?--Nehrams2020 07:10, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I also voted to keep since the lists do have potential. However, I don't see myself helping out with them too much. I have way too many other sections of Wikipedia I want to contribute to. Plus I like to bounce around, and after reworking the Samuel L. Jackson page, I want to work on attempting to bring some other pages to good article status. I got the go ahead from Cbrown1023 to contribute to the newsletter about mentioning the new good/featured articles on Wikipedia featuring film-related topics, so I have to start working on that. But again these are my two most important weeks of the semester, so some time needs to go to studying. I haven't seen the years in film lists that he has brought up on your talk page, can you show me a link for them? If it is what I think it is, I think a merge is necessary, or it would just be easier for him to add the major characteristics he wants to the preexisting articles (after he discusses it first, of course). I do agree with you in making sure that the red links aren't created, unless the films are notable also. I wish that these film-related AFD would just be discussed by the members at WP:Films so that the people who know the guidelines and what the project encompasses could make better judgments then people who usually can only speculate. Anyway, I hope this resolves itself soon, I already have too many other things I want to focus on. --Nehrams2020 09:38, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

E.S.Blofeld 2

Thanks mate. But can't the objectors see how useful such a list is. I don't intend to lists every single film ever some won't even make the list. And many even which make thre list won't have an article. Its just the majority of films really are notable they are only not considered by people suchas Calton because they are not English and are unknown. Wikipedia should be the greatest resoruce for infomration in the world and clearly infomration about film is an important part. Doesn't it seem silly that the List of Greek films is allowed to be kept not the ones I created? I'm sure many uses will agree that the navigation box above is an excellent idea. Once the lists are created they wil connect to articles. Amercian films can redirect to Category@American films. But that box really is very useful. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 09:38, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't know if you have noticed but I have redirected counties such as America and UK to categories as well as the later years of lists of film because the lists are very developed. I still think lists should be compiled of lesser covered countries and film 1896-1940. Then once these develop we can redirect to categories. Beleive it or not I would rather not have to compile an entire list unneccsarily but I require access to infomration of existing global films not covered on wikipedia and feel this is the way to do it by a navigation box. What ever happens that navigation box should never be deleted if worst comes to worst then redirect all to Categories. But I mean you see Category:1910 film. Pathetic. Surely you can't redirect to this? I want to see the majority of films covered first before redirecting. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:41, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I know this please don't patronize me. I would like to stop my articles being deleted. O focurse I know what categories are but if aI create a list I really do not want it being deleted. I think is is pretty important don't you? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Films by year?

Hi - I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand the question - I've been glancing through the posts on Blofeld's films by country issue, but haven't been following anything about films by year. Would you mind elaborating? thanks - Her Pegship 18:29, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't think it needs to be there unless it replaces the table right above it. Was it ever decided or not if all of the "List of 19xx films" were going to continued to be created, or are we remaining with the "19xx in film" and merging the information together. If we are still sticking with the "19xx in film", then the table could replace the previous one if all of the redirects are fixed from heading to "List of 19xx films". Let me know if that makes sense. --Nehrams2020 18:52, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
OK then, let's just bring this up on the WP:Films talk page, detailing this template, the attempt to switch the format of the years in film lists, the current AFD discussion, and the previous communications on your talk page, his, and Cbrown1023. That way all of the members can see it, and hopefully fix all of this. If there is only four or five of us stepping around the project, for which is the purpose of discussing and improving film-related articles, then we will probably not fix this. This should be put on the talk page. Do you want to list it or me? I think you have a better understanding of the situation and are more involved, but I could attempt to include it as a somewhat outside spectator. It really doesn't matter to me. --Nehrams2020 19:09, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Doing it right now. --Nehrams2020 19:15, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
OK, I mentioned it in WP:Films discussion, if you want to take a look and add any other relevant information. I did not know that his lists of year films were also put up for deletion until I looked it up, so it looks like a lot of this could be deleted without any problems. If they are all deleted, and the templates remain, then they could be redirected to the current lists of years in film and remove the old table. --Nehrams2020 19:36, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Me again! Thanks for the note. Please (invade)talk to me any time, and now I know where to find the discussion! Cheers, Her Pegship 19:47, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

The redirects were created for new visitors to the site who require a lists of films and don't know how to access cateogories. I will remove the redirects asap from the box. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:50, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

OK but do you see how I can't win? I propose drawing up lists directly and they get deleted. So I propose redirects to categories were the lists are and this is wrong too! Again you misunderstand me. My sole purpose on wikipedia is to provide information in one massive volume to anybody on the planet this is what sustains my enthusiasm. Of course this isn't a game what i meant was i tried two difwerent solutions to appease people and still had objections from the same people. Please see my ideas on the main project talk, where I think lthe lists should be compiled in chronolgocal order. However the lists initally need to be set out and cut down top notablity would you object if I added a new sections to Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/List of notable films by country and date? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:58, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes to be honest I would prefer to compile the lists behind the scenes. Using imdb and british film institute I will remove the unotable films s0 we are left with a finely tuned list of missng films. Then at a later date once all done the lists of films in chornological order will replace the A-Z of my List of Finnish films articles etc. The list of missing films by decade is already set up I see - how about listing the missing films by year in each of the years. This may need yearly missing film pages. Or would you not rather to list all of the missing articles? You said something about mangeability ?Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:38, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

OK I really think this is the best way to achieve I am new to wikiproject so I wasn't really aware that this could provide me with the entire base to list missing films in. If you like rather than just emtpying imdb on to each country how about I go throguh gradually filtering out the unotable articles leaving all of the films ready for new articles. See my List of missing Bulgarian films you see I have filtered the A films and have even started three of the first ones. I want an entire base for which to go throguh the lists methodically and cleanly. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:07, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

OK I have set out the wikipedia sub projects now. I would like now to list missing Argentinian film but there are many!! Is it ok if A B C is listed on seperate page using the index as in the list articles?. I won't create a new page until I have checked all the films for notability leaving finely tuned lists ready for other users including myself to start.

ON Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article/List of missing Argentine Films I have refined A - AG so far. I would say about 65-70% of the imdb films were unotable e.g short documentraies short films no info etc. I beleive this process should be done for every country so we can root out all of the missing articles and concentrate on adding them to wikipedia. I will start Agua (2006 film) later as an example. I'll complete A today probably. THis way we know where we are. I would be immensely grateful if you could get other wikipedians to compile lists from the other countries Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:10, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

THanks. I have filted A -AH I will return later and complete A. I have started Agua (2006 film) this could be epxanded x 3. I aim for all listed red links to be turned into articles 3 times the size of agua. I hope that other wikipedians will now see what I am trying to achieve. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:59, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

WOuld you have any objection if the current decades of missing films were branched out into missing films by year in the same way of the lsit of missing Argentine films? They would be compiled in the same way I am currently doing with Argentina. As the lists are drawn and new articles created of course red links will disappear quicker as new films fit in both year and country categories.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:03, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi yes if you coulfd move my lists of Bulgarian films that would be great/ I now am certain that those lists were cretaed preamturely. Theye should be recreated in perhaps another 6 months but his time in chronological order once all those new films have been organized and started. I really appreicate your protection on this. There is NO point in wiping out any work so far it should be moved from the main space to missing article pages. The navigation box should be kept though. Also while I take a break can you convince the others than this is the right thing to do Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:11, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes of course the decades will stay. it is far best organized by decade what I mean is that you'll never list all the missing ten years of films on one page. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I created A byahme mladi and several others as an example of what Bulgarian films should look like Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:17, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

OK. At present I will be concentrating on country films anyway. I suggest that in compiling the entrie lists of missing films by year only one year is done at a time in order. E.g List of missing 1896 films. Then once they are started the list can be deleted and then you list all of the 1897 films and so on. This way it will only be one extra page to keep tabs on rather than 112 pages plus of red links!!!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:20, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

That may the other 110 years will only list the few mangeable ones under the decades and should be easy to patrol. i don't want you to have hundreds of pages unneccesarily to patrol. In fact it may be esaier for the earlier films to actually list all of the missing films on the main decade page as there aren't so many Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:23, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

yes I know this is an issue. But my reasoning is that if the film is Argentinan and in Spanish then the proper title should be as original but should always be stated in the intro meaning or knwon itle in other languages. A redirect in english to the main title can always be done.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:25, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I mean e.g Mont Blanc is not listed on wikipedia as White Mountain etc. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:27, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes that is a mtter for debate beleive me the finnish films are even worse to understand the titles. However I have plan. As with the yearsin film i beleive a full list of articles should only be listed one year at a time rather than listing a whole 112 years of missing film to work gradually. I would like to do this even on Argentine films, rather than listing the whole A-Z I could list all of the films beginnign with A and then add them to wikipedia. Then delete the missing list once achived and list the B films and so on. This way it is far easier to patrole what is going on. Agreed? I prefer to work methodically adding Argentine films A-Z to wikipedia first then Austrian films and so on. However this means that Yugolsav films bginning with Z will eventually have an article by the year 2020!!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:43, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Started A Dos Aguas now. Do I list all of the missing articles by country first or do I go thorugh gradually because if I go through gradually notable Yugloslav films beginning with z won't be covered until 2020 Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

No I don' t plan to re arange the missing articles by date. They will be listed alphabetically. What I mean is that once these articles are created then e.g List of Argentine films can be recreated by year and date of release something which a category cannot do. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:18, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks I hadn't noticed that I'll do this in future. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:27, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

I have started some Argentine films and even created severla directors and actors e.g Rodolfo Kuhn. They should be written into full detailed articles later. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:51, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Missing film work

Gradually working on Argentine films. Vast amounts of notable films and actress, director, producers etc are missing. E.g started El Abuelo (1954 film) and major actors Enrique Muino and mecha Ortiz from. Eventually these will all be written into detailed articles. I believe my lists are extremely important for establishing missing notable global films and actors and directors on wikipedia. Director Román Viñoly Barreto also among many thousands of notable film director biographies missing. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:18, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing the links on argentina I would have gor around to it. Is it ok if I delete the films fro the list once they are started because there are hundreds and list doesn't need films that now have articles. New films can be seen in Category:Argentine films beginnign with A.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:51, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Or would you rather I kept the films I have started on the list for progress purposes so people can see all of the films aI have started then and the project progress? Ernst Stavro Blofeld

I have an idea for the completed missing films how about a seperate page Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article/Completed missing films or something by country so you can easily view the progress of the project. A kind of Wikiproject log book for new articles. Other film wikipedians can register the completed films from the missing pages so we can track what is new. That way the lists will not be clogged up unneccesarily. I think I'll do that now. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:17, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Does this page exist? I think those lists actually on the encyclopedia needs to be done perhaps a year from now when work is much more complete. My inital lists were too early when the work needs to be done backstage. But yes I would like a logbook of recently completed articles by wikiproject so we can view our progress. At present I have a small list on Argentina at the top. I have also started some Albanian films and directorsErnst Stavro Blofeld 13:25, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

On the page I suggested to begin with I could have a section on new actors and directors which have been started from the new articles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:37, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Excellent idea. This way you can view my progess. But I thought the page would be useful for everyone in the project. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:39, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi most of the films I deem notable require a number of criteria . Lack of info is part of this but there will be a few films where little info is available but I can see that the film is relatively important and potentially should have a decent article on it. Imdb should not be used for full research on such an article and info hopefully can be retrieved from the many film webisites that exist. Any film though where the cast or some production details is not present will not be added to the list. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:13, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes that goes for actors and directors I have started too. I did check on Argetine films on spanish wikipedia is has considerably more so far than ours but there are few films covered with the letter A which I am working through. A good thing about this is that I am a very good reader in spanish so can translate any info from others later Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:23, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Si. Amgo.

Yes I know thanks. I am almost fluent in spanish but I also understand a lot of french, Italian and a bit of german but don't wirte or speak them so well. Hallo wie heist du. Ich wohne in Gales. Wo wohst du? Ich habe eine schwester und eine bruder. or Ja m' appelle Ernst Stavro Blofeld! Je suis perdu.. THis may also prove useful in the future if trnanslation the synopsis from foreign wikipedias when I get around to these films. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:56, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

The thing is each film reveals and multiples into a great deal of missing notable actors. Do I concentrate on starting the films or contribute most of the actors removing most of the red links on each film? I suggest I start one or two and don't wikify the links on the others. Then once all films are started I can go through and start all of the actors etc and also translate info (not direct copies) from other sites. Hopefully in the end we will have tens of thousands of new detailed articles providing an immense amount of information all over the planet. there is so little time for everything though!!!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:01, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Even after quick evaluation some of the films on filtered list may not be suitable. i started El Acomodador but on research I found that all of the actors and directors only ever appeared in this film - another part of my criteria not notable enough for the Argentine film industry a one off film and one off actors. I believe there was a 1997 film series of the same name this may be notable though but i won't look into it. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:27, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I managed to find a bit of quick spanish info on the synopsis of El Acompañamiento. I'll attempt to make all of these new entries much more detailed after everything is started but I need time. it would be nice if there were some pictures available for it but there isn't. I have alos set up Category:Tango films which i thought was an important cultural part and ties in with Argentine culture. Please see when you have time I have catergorized it properly. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:07, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I think I've done this with films by culture and Argentine films for categories. I'll also if I remember to add the Film wikiprjoect tags to the talk pages. I think I should create new stub category Template:Argentina-film-stub and Template:Argentina-actor-stub as soon there will be many which will require development into detailed articles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:16, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey I used my spanish to translate a synopsis of Acrobacias del corazón. It is proving very useful I reworded it in English though. This is quite a good start but I had to spend I lot more time on it. I would like to start every film like this but it takes too much time. If ok I would prefer to stub the articles first now set them up. Then once established on wikiepdia I can research each one and write fuller articles on every film and then branch out every articles creating many hundreds of new pages on actors and directors which in turn can be researched into new articles. Potneitally at the end of my entire Missing film project we should have tens of thousands of new lengthy quality articles on wikipedia. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:32, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I am pleased with the progress of this. Auss pete has added a very smart useful list on the missing Australian films. I have started the regional page Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article/List of missing European Films because there are a number of European countries which have produced several notable films but not enough for there own page. I think Ukraine though may have to have its own page. I won't bother with the African and other Asian or Latin Americas yet. Its best to concentrate on major missing films first. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:15, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I have started the List of Argentine films now and as each article is added I will list it in chronological order so for each coutnry in the end we should have a timeline of film by country as part of the Cinema of ..... series. Eventually the info will be put in a table with a summary of director, actors, and date of release. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:50, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

No have a look underneath. I only just had the idea for a table and I am sorting it. Then every film that is started I can add it. I have removed most silent films I needed to copy the format. Eventually once the several thousand films are done for each country I would like to see the chronology split off by year but this is way down the track. e.g 1988 in Argentine film or 1988 Argentine films. All of this would be part of the years in films series and Cinema of series. I'll just stick to setting the basics up and continuing with my lists and new articles at present. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:17, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

OK I'll only add a film to the mainspace list if more developed from now on. Existing articles (e.g more developed articles that have existed for some time) can be listed in that timeline. Feel free to add the director or actors or date of release to the table for missing columns Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:48, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

I do think this is again another brilliant idea but I agree not every film should be listed. At the beginnning of each list I can state for an A-Z list of Argentine films see Category:Argentine films which will give a complete list eventually. However I do think most films should be listed to give a fuller picture of Cinema of Argentina. But lesser films with little info of each year should of course be left out. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:08, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

I have also added the cinema of template at the list to tie in ith the Cinema of Pages as this is supposed to be part of these articles. I think that once I have added ost of the films to wikipedia we should then be able to root out the most notable films which should all feature on this list. I have to go now work beckons but I'll continue tomorrw with starting the new articles from the missing list. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:26, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

New work

Excellent work Thankyou. Yes I am starting a few actors, direcotrs and cinematographers particularly for the films I start that are totally linkless and for those major names that keep occuring. They are very basic starter articles but they are a atart. I will always add a photo if I can. They can all be written into full articles later. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:45, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Olga Zubarry for instance was a major actress of international recognition but the article didn't exist!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:46, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey great news I have found a giant image bank for Argentine film. www.acceder.buenosaires.gov.ar. I think images are very important in film articles. I will always try to add an image if possible. They make the new stubs look better. The site also contains masses of images related to British, French and brazilian film and everything else Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:36, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Used some images on Los Afincaos but look how many missing actors and directors!!! I beleive there was talk on Wikiproject Actors. I strongly beleive that films should be the basis for this. Each film provides the missing actors and directors. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:36, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

No I don't intend starting EVERY actor or director. Some actors or directors who only starred in one or two or have zilch info clearly no point in articles on them. But again you'll have to trust me in my judgement of notablitliy. Every notable actor and director does need an article and there are many thousands missing from Wikipedia, hundreds from Argentina alone. It is like with the films unotable films are not on that list or will be removed from that list Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:54, 17 December 2006 (UTC). I do hope that you and the other users will begin to see how useful I intend to be Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:54, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

OK cool!! I was referring to that dispute everybody initally had over me. All the best and nice job on organizing the template into decades. The categories just need filling with articles full of info now. All the bestErnst Stavro Blofeld 14:17, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

THat image base I mentioned is amazing!! For A Sangre Fría I manged to find a gallery of 33 pictures of the film!!! This is what I would like for every film to have a detailed gallery externally to illustrate the film. I have uloaded several fair use images to explain it a bit better. Hey I also found the original 1947 poster. My hope is someone who knows the film will detail it as with every film. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:21, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

hey a number of good things about those links I said and compiling various sources. On Las Aguas Bajan Turbias that image base has almost 100 film images great for learning about the film. Spanish wikipedia has an articdle on this so I translated from spanish and used imdb for technical info. Also the cinematographer of that film i already started from anothe rfilm to I added a bit of detail of this film to his biography so gradually thinks are becoming interconnected and actors and cinema people i start can gradually be expanded as their films are covered. ALso Spanish wikipedia has a number of articles on the actors and director of this film which I can start and translate later. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:27, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

I also propose two new templates. One list of films by genre should be in a navigation box. Two a navigation box of the Cinema of series. Rather than just the brief regional templates I wwant one of global cinema by country so people can learn about the cinema of each country at the touch of a button. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:55, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

I have started Template:Cinemabycountry but I'll wait to see what others think before adding the other cinema countries. I'd like to see a naviagtion box for countries which the regional pages do not link together. Each country is individual rather than regional. E.g if I wanted to learn about Brazilian cinema and then suddenly Serbian cinema the box would link it all quickly. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:32, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Basically rathe rthan the long list on World cinema of by country this would be replaced by a simlper tidier template that would be placed at the foot of each Cinema of Page Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:35, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Let me know what you think of this master template I have created the idea is to connect to all aspects of world cinema instantly.

OK sorry. I should wait first. I'm sure people will see the idea to connect to all aspects of cinema. I'll continue with the films. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:19, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Maybe the side as you suggested could be panelled off my region and the countries listed under region? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:20, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Template looks good

The template looks great and it looks like a lot of work went into it. Is this template going to be put on all of the articles listed within the template? It appears that it is well-organized, I think it will serve its purpose well. --Nehrams2020 21:24, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes that is exactly what I mean however under South Asia India should have its own column because there are five different cinemas I added that to my box. i love the idea of the flags it brings colur and life into the box. It just needs to be altered slightly now and paste into the appropriate sections. See your sandbox fro cmparisonsErnst Stavro Blofeld 22:03, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

You see I really wanted to grasp the whole film and cinema industry and attempt to connect everything together as one. Then I feel I can continue knowing every film I create will be all connected as one. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:05, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes but for the regions only use the single word as a pop up e.gg Asian cinema|Asia as the box will be too fat. If you can correct this I will add the rest of the flags and then we can move the countries to approparie regional sections. THen it will look superbErnst Stavro Blofeld 22:12, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Template almost complete now. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 09:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

As each country is added to wikipedia and articles become more detailed I suggest using small templates for navigation also within the cinema of each country. E.g see Template:CinemaofArgentina but it needs adjusting so the titles are panelled off. I f you could quickly fix ths it would be great. I won't bother filling the template yet but when we have rooted out the major actors and directors of each country I suggest using a similar template for an article related to the cinema of the country. The small template could be used at the bottom of many major film, actor, and director pages in each country tying in with the larger national cinema picture. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:05, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I have set up a new template: Template:CinemaofArgentina

Each template should be drawn up for every country highlighting only the MAJOR portions of the cinema of each country. The top panel connects in the world cinema and the respective region in this South America.E.g Template:CinemaofIran should summarise the Cinema of Iran industry but also connect to Middle-East cinema instead of South America. The world template has set out the boundaries of world film. Now these templates need to be established for understanding the national picture of each country and should be used on main articles for that country at the foot of the page. This way we not only have instant access to all components of cinema realted to the country but also reveals the major chracters or films related to it. If you reading an article for example on an Argentine film director, this template at the bottom of the page is very useful to connecting to further related learning. Then when I have added all the notable films and actors and directors of each country I will a. be able to root out the super films and characters to go in the navigation, b. have completed the categorized lists c.compiled an extrenely useful chronology of films in each country by year as in List of Argentine films again rooting out the most notable films. This whole process should be replicated as I work through adding the lists of all of the WikiProject Missing Film articles by country.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:24, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I also don't want these country boxes to be too large so featured content of it must be kept to a strict criteria of super notability. E.g major international or cult films, and actors and directors world known or starred in over 30 films or something.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:27, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I fixed the margin problem earlier. I have minimised the flags but if yourself and others diagree with them I won't object if you remove just the flags not the others. I would also prefer the Asia to remain as one panel and sub split with the sub regions mentioned as I have done. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:36, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I would like to keep the template as now but I won't object if you remove just the flags. I really don't think e.g Middle eastern cinema is dserving of a whole column of its own. However I do suggest is that you subspilt the Asia panel into boxes horizontally all the way across and reorganize the Asian films under the appropriate subregions in one Asia panel. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:43, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

E.g columns

East Asia........South Asia.......Southeast Asia.......Middle East

Now I have an idea of the boundaries of our project using the templates I have created which are very useful for trying to comprehend a massive!!!!! subject, I will now concentrate on compiling the entire list of missing notable films by country and then year adding to those decade lists later, adding a film or two on the way. Then after this stage is completed we will have a entire base from which to identify the thousands of missing articles and systematically work on adding them to wikipedia as soon as possible . This in turn should be part of the paveway for missing actor and directors and other cinema figures and film biographies on wikipedia as all of these revolve around film. I have organized the missing articles by country A-Z in a category a sub category of the main Wikiprject Film category. I'll first try to bullet all the films starting with Argentina and then go throguh wikifying the appropriate links for notability. Then once the article stubs are started on all missing notable films I will add the cinema characters by country also ensuring each of the Cinema articles are written into brilliant structured articles, compiling the chronology along the way. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I have set up a User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Main Volcano Base as a main category to aid my work on wikipedia. You may find this useful in the future for monitoring my progress. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:04, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I got rid of the red link on Cinema of Indonesia. It needs writing though Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:47, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I have amended your sandboox template so India is sub panelled off but not entirely across so it is still part of the South Asian cinema part. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:42, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I think that the bottom three panels waste too much space. I suggest thst North, Central Latin and the Caribbean are sub panelled horizontally as with Asia under panel title Amercias. Wastes far less space for few countries. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:45, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Final template decision

If you and the others come to a consensus to change it to the one now in your sandbox ok. But I have to say I do prefer the flags and that sub structuring of Asia does bloat the box unneccesarily. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:11, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

The template should go at the foot of every main article on world cinema. This includes every Cinema of Page and every main page that is accessible by the box. E.g Cinematography [[List of film directors etc. Then once the sub - national templates are constructed these should go in all of the main articles for that specific country connecting each country to the main [[Cinema of arrticles. This is turn is then connecting to World cinema so we have a film basis linking the entire planet.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:14, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes template is looking good but pleas emake one quick last change. The box is one row too big. Please just have one horizontal column for the Americas and split this in half , North American and Latin America. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:19, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Nah leave it as it is. I only wanted those gep pics to liven it up a bit I'll switch tenplates now Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:34, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I have switched templates. Now your condensed version is MUCH better. While I can see the ppoint of the sub sections they bloated it far too much it is at a maximum sixze now. Anyway anybody clicking on e.g [[Southeast Asian cinema will automatically see the countries within it it the right hand regional cinema columns. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:38, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

T me that template now looks almost perfect. Do you think the top topics should be emboldened to distinguish it from the countries though? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:40, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

E,g click East Asian cinema and the countries are immediately on your right. I changed the World cinema massive ugly list on the page earlier. THis looks much better but for infomration puropese you may want to have section undernaeth on sub asian cinema and the countries?

Agreed as I said before Nah leave it as it is. I only wanted those geo (map) pics to liven it up a bit Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:44, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Exactly as I said before. I feel we have spent enough time on this world template!! - now to me it looks perfect - it should now be added to all of the main film pages that are linked in this box (apart from the categories). If I could leave it to you to do that that would be great I've done a few alreadyErnst Stavro Blofeld 22:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

THe world cinema page alone looks 10 times more handsome now. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:50, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes just change it to a slash as with india Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:53, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

A NEW WIKILANGUAGE SISTER PROJECT

In regards to thr translation and foreign languages we were discussing the other day. I have come up with a new idea for the wikipedia foundation a major new project to exist alongside Wikipedia and the Commons. I have sent to following message to the leaders of wikipedia:

I propose a new major sister project of wikipedia WikiLanguages or WikiLinguistics which specializes in the teaching of all languages. I have looked over the internet and have found some sites which do have several of the major languages giving knowledge of learning them but this wuould be huge and would provide all the information for learning languages such as most of the 250 languages that already have wikipedias. Learning a language is a major infomration source but wikipedia does not have this in detail. I beleive this wikipedia sister project would be developed into an extremwely valuable resoruce not only for achieving knowledge of major languages but also other world languages which are not always readily available to learn. Also many of the existing webistes which do atempt to provide some learning of language often involve a subscription and are not free.

If it is created I would hope that say five years down the line we should have the ultimate language learning resource in the world. If everybody contributes from their respective countris and knowledge of their languages we could see a resource which could allow you to potentially become fluent in hundreds of languages. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:08, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I strongly beleive this is what providing free easily accessible information is what wikipedia is all about and think this is an extrmely valuable component missing from the Wikipedia Foundation. E.g if I wanted to learn Norwegian or Czech or FInnish at the highest possible level or whatever this resource would be there to provide this knowledge. WikiLanguages would be divided into 250 or whatever massive sub projects e.g WikiFrench WikiSpanish WikiNorwegian WikiFinnish WikiDutch WIkiItalian WIkiPortuguese WIkiThai WikiJapanese etc etc dedicated to providing an English encylopedia of languagesErnst Stavro Blofeld 12:13, 21 December 2006 (UTC).

Imagine if this major sister project could incorporate translation technology - imagine the immese benefit for learning but also for tranlsation from foreign wikipedias. This would be a highly useful tool for Wikipedia itself. The site could also incorpate audio technology so the resoruce would not only provide you with the detail to reading and writing a language fluently but provide you with the knoe how to pronouncre and speak a language well. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:28, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I strongly beleive that this is the next step for the Wikipedia Media series. The series attempts to connect the world up entirely providing 'the sum of all human knowedge freely' but I think a key to commuinication is language- a vital part of the project.

Please let me know if you think this is a good idea. I would like to organize a proposal petition with the top wikipedia foundation administrators to decide to start this. WikiLanguages would also provide specializes knowledge of localized dialects or whatever -the ultimate global language resource. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:40, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks but I really think this would be a very useful tool for wikipedia itself even for film. To be able to translate from foreign wikipedias at the touch of button would be great. I have contancted the leaders of the Wikipedia Foundation to see this established. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:11, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

E.g sub project of the WIkiLanguages e.g WikiSpanish would have a complete A-Z dictionary. So say for instance on an Argetine film where you don't known a word you can search for its in the WIkialngauages immediately. But the strnegths of it would be less common languages like Hungarian where you could find the english meaning for a word instantly. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:13, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Cinema country templates

How about the country template is just minimised completely by country to just include the main topics rather than articles e.g actors, films festivals directors , cinematographers , editors horizontally in one skinny box. I agree that in aeell written cinema articles the main articles featured in the box will already be linked and the box would be too big for most general articles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:19, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

How about this now

. Iagree that each cinema article should be written so well to the extent that it mentions all of the major fiomls actors and directors anyway. THis I beleive is just a useful navigation point between national articles related to the cinema of that country Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

As each countries films are added to wikipedia the cinema of pages will write themselves. The Cinema of pages and the Years in film pages should be seen as the cream of the Film project and once the films are started I would like to write every one into at least a Good Article if not a feature. Imagine that if all of our Cinema of pages were featured articles. But some pages really look very poor see Cinema of Finland this is a disgrace!!! I'll ensure that is written properly soon Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:37, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Here is my aims on wikipedia for WiiProject Film:

a] Compile a list of all missing notable films by country and year.
b] Start articles on all of the missing films as set out in the Missing article base. Chronology of films by country will be achieved during this process
c] Start articles on all of the major actors, directors, cinematographers by country removing the red links in each film article.
d]start researching each film compiling various referenced sources into lengthy articles
e]Start researching each actor, direcotr and cinema character into lengthy articles
Point d] and e] will of course include every current article on wikipedia too. f]Knowledge should be there to write exemplary featured articles for each of the Cinema of and Years in pages
g]Once the cinema of pages are starting to be full and complete beginning attempting to write each major film into Good Article status.
h]IN cordination with the proposed Wikipedia:WikiProject Actors and directors beginning attempting to write each major actor, director or cinema figure into Good Article status or even a feature. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:46, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I would anticipate that after a long process of hard work by everyone wikipedia will have covered the entirety of Film (notable) in super detail. I beleive there is already a section of WIkiProject devoted to adding Synopsis of films. THis I beleive is a great idea as it should be the bulk of the content for every film page and seen as extremely important for films. Eventually I'd like a detailed walk through' synopsis of every film article kind of like I am in the process of doing with Seven years in Tibet. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:57, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I must admit I do agree with you now about the flags. There inclusion was to identify the country and for aesthetic purpoeses but is clearly not relevant to film. Far better with a film picture.

Well five years at least if many others are involved but I am not going to dedicate five years of my life to it!!! I'll work gradually on it. Yes I do like the idea of connecting every article on film with another through the wikified links within the articles and my navigation of the general picture. I really think think it helps grasp an idea of the relation of that films or cinema character with the cinema and film industry involved.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:09, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Looks much smarter now. Simple but very effective. It connects to the national pictures, the regional picture and of course the world in one tiny box.Although could you remove the line between world cinema and south american with a bullet point -looks tidier. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:15, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I think I know what you mean about the naming. You mean one template named {{Cinemaofcountry}} or something. Rather than clutter up the template systen uncessarily with tens of templates for each coutnry which will look exactly the same with slightly altered links. Once established you can just copy the apoorpariate format by country to the approatie article. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

There you go one template: Template:Cinemabycountry. Can be used for all cinema countries. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:23, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Then just add in appropriate links of courseErnst Stavro Blofeld 15:23, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I twouldn't work though because each template is different for each country. What do you suggest the naming is? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Ah isee what you mean now I didn't see your last message about the crietrion. Feel free to adjust to wahtever you think is appropriate. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:34, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey I'll judge your experience on this. As long as it looks similar and has all the links no prob. I don't know exactly what you mean so You can sandbox your idea if you like. I'll have to leave work work in about half hour so Il continue on my lists and see your idea later. Regards Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:53, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Note also Cinema of Israel Cinema of Austria Cinema of Yugoslavia and Cinema of Norway are missing and should be started asap. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:20, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

(copied here from Template talk)
Where all the links of topics are, we can offer an include if option so that if, for example, all countries don't have Festivals, inclusion of the link could be only if field is given. Hoverfish 17:50, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

New cinema pages

Cinema of Israel Cinema of Yugoslavia and Cinema of Norway and Cinema of Hungarywere missing I have started them. Cinema of Austria still missing will start once some films are added. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:30, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I also thought it fitting to create a side template for Asian cinema - page was very poorly linked. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:18, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

No that wasn.t me - cbrown has set an automatic [[ film }} installer on the talk pages of every article I create. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:54, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey if you have time I would be grateful if you could help bullet point some of the missing lists I am compiling. Once all of the lists are copied and bullets they can then be researched quickly and wikified asap. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

OK but my lists are gradually being developed anyway. I'll compile them as quick as a can but it is a very ardous task and easily get bored from it. Once its done and notable films wikified and set up it will be a great relief!!Ernst Stavro Blofeld 23:19, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Blofeld's other wiki work

I have done work on a vast number of areas of wikipedia but I was gradually adding every settlement in Hungary to wikipedia. The latest county is Borsod which see the missing villages here : List of villages in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén - vast number of articles are missing here. Romania will be next. My progress on the films may be slowed somewhat by these other committments on wikipedia. I hope you don't mind if I split my editing time between these. probably 70% - 30% between film and then geography. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ernst Stavro Blofeld (talkcontribs) 11:45, 23 December 2006 (UTC).

Yeah of course I'll be continuing as before but I will be allocating more time to my Hungarian project too. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:03, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Argentine film category

Is there a problem with Category:Argentine films because I would prefer the films to go straight down on the left side. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:18, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah it will look far far better once I complete all Argentine films A-Z as it won't be so unbalanced with A films. I don't think the second row will cut off. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:01, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

You can see which cinema characters are major ones see Argentine screenwriter I started about 10 minutes ago Abel Santacruz. Check out his massive filmography!!!!Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:30, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Small world isn't it. Several months ago i was going through histrical olympians and I created Pedro Quartucci believing he was just a boxer. Now I come across him again in my film articles and find that he was actaully a major actor of Argentine cinema and some othe rusers had added his birth and death details and mentioned his acting career! I haven't touched the article again yet but it needs some serious expansion later!! What a coincidenceErnst Stavro Blofeld 16:02, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

That nasty User:Calton is back to his old tricks again. I started a stub on Gerardo Romano a major Argentine film and TV actor with a major filmography see his imdb entry. I have every intention of expanding it into a full article later. There should be plenty of info to go on. There is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't have an article. As I said I will write all of my starters into detaild articles later and I will not start an actor or a film that is not notable or cannot provide useful informationErnst Stavro Blofeld 16:43, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Google him. Every major film site in the world has him substantially. Please tell him this and that I do not want to start articles if they will not eventually have some puropse. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:45, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Even New York Times has him see [[1]]

I'm sorry but wikipedia is a project. Surely I can't be expected to write a 5000 word article immediately to start with. If he had checked the actor on google first it wouldn't havebeen tagged for notability. Anyway I have improved it but this is besides the point. The reason I said tell him is because from past experiences the user has no intention of listening to a thing I say and if other people explain to him I don't intend starting articles on everything under the sun and I am only starting notable actors and films then he might start to beleive it. I would rather not have do bow down to the ignorance of another user and fight to keep something. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:34, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes but surely unotable articles should at least be googled first before tagging. If that lovely useful user is so great he would check first before tagging.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:49, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

OK but in reading you user briefing it isn't all that evident that you are only concerned with films and nothing else. Although the label is there for your Film membership from reading your user page I would expect you to be primarily involved in spiritual and ecological areas rather than films. You live now in Austria. DO you know anything about Austrian films. That will be the next country I'll be doing. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:01, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Film lists

Thankyou. Yes from now on I will only wikify the filtered links. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:23, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Surely you realaise by now I am far from thick. I replicate the lists for a reason. I find it quicker then to go through the lists in comparison with imdb and write down the numbers of the notable films from imdb. Every film is counted and those films whiich are not numbered e.g the ones in between I just delete and remove them leaving a filtered list. It is a lot quicker than writing the names down and working on the list two or three films at a time - I can do 50 films in ten minutes. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:35, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

E.g see Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article/List of missing Austrian Films. A and B have been filtered and are red linked. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:40, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

THanks for bulleting mate beleive me it is the single most useful thing you can do to help me. C and D filtered now already. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 23:13, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Categories

Hope yu are having a good Christmas in Austria. Thanks for bulleting and your categorizing of the film lists. However when pasting the titles on the missing lists I don't know how to access that bullet format you suggested. How do you do it I can't find that option. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:11, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Where is the text editor? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:26, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I have also decided from now on that if when quickly researching the films for notability I see a film that is detailed and full on imdb and has won an award I will embolden it. Note though several of my Bulgarian films and a few others are in bold and may be unneccesarily so. The same should be done for the lists of missing gilms by year if a film is known to be major and won an award or somethin then it should be emboldened. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:20, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I have added a few missing John Wayne films to the 1930s list. I beleive a very good place to start for the missing year articles is to start with the filmographies of major film stars first. I couldn't help myself and started The Lawless Nineties earlier but I'll continue with the country lists now Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:28, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I have also now have two different sandboxes Sandbox ans Sandbox 2 where the first is for foreign films the second for american films and eglish language films. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:30, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Where have some of the films gone that were in Category:American films? The category looks less full than before. I beleive that every American film should be categorized as American films but as there are so many tens of thousands how about the category is split by decade.

E.g my The Lawless Nineties would become Category:American films of the 1930s.

Category:American films would be neatly organized by decade rather than the giant giant main category. It could look like this:

etc.

What do you think? It would be much easily managable and accesible. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:37, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Are you there? Also that Cinema of Argentina template I do think it must go at the foot of most related articles as it connects the person or film to the wider national film industry. The template is tiny now so i don;t think it should be a problem Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:44, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Of course I'll wait but that giant giant untidy category should be neatly split into sub decade categories. Most people in regards to films if they don; tknow the exact year they know the decade. Yes I think searching all the red links of the superstars of cinema is a good start e.g John Wayne, Buster Keaton, Burt Lancaster, Clark Gable, Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo etc . Also searching the film directors filmographies is a good idea. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:57, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes I had seen your comments thats why I brought it up again. It just acts as a convient connection to all other article related to the cinema of that country. I have filtered some more films and added complete A-Z films I think up to Cuba now. I have alos listed the missing Thai films so far these I beleive have been filteredErnst Stavro Blofeld 14:01, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry a little personal problem with my talk page needed sorting. As I never edit my user page I didn't realaise it was 240KB long!!!! It looks ok now. Messaging me should be far easier now! THanks Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:43, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Walter Matthau and Henry Fonda also have a few missing films. You may want to check the 1930s missing page to upkeep it. I am logging out now I'll return later Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:43, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Good work. I have also noticed Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant super stars have many films missing from earlier in their careers notably the early 1930s. They may not have been the main stars though Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:53, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Definately signing off now. Speak to you later Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:53, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Is the naming of Fred 'Snowflake' Toones ok because I originally started it as Fred Toones but I checked and several other films already on wikipedia which he starred in have him with his well known nickname Snowflake in the middle. Imdb has him this way and othe rsites do to. Checking his films he was billed as Fred 'Snowflake' Toones but is this ok? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:03, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I am glad you also see the importance of categorizing and connecting every artivle. THat wikifilm categorization sub project in an excellent idea and I am one of its strongest advocators. There are hundreds of American films on wikipedia not categorized on wikipedia as American films and they shuld be. In the process though keep in mind my suggestion for splitting the category by decade.

The on going process of the missing films is so important to films on wikipedia. In the process we do not only see all of the missing films and remove the red links from actor filmographies but also pave the way as I said before for missing actors and film directors. E.g that The Lawless Nineties article today has in turn created Toones but alos director Joseph Kane who I amazed didn't yet have an article. I had heard of Kane before -he directed over 125 films but I took for granted wikipedia had an article on him. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:36, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I suspect Roy Rogers filmography has many missing films! Wow! I'll dig them out laterErnst Stavro Blofeld 18:52, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

I've improved and restructured The Good, the Bad and the Ugly a little and added much needed images but eventually I would like to write a full detailed account of the film and other paragrpahs on locations etc. I would like to make this into a featured article someday.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:53, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes I have added a detailed new section on the films other characters in the Good Bad Ugly. I felt it important to fill in important gaps in the main synopsis. I have seen this film over a hundred times!! I see what you mean about the images. I feel they are important to critically analyse the film. No more will be added. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:46, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Categorization

Don't be stupid . I tagged this myself as a tester because I have now found the proper naming Get your factas straight Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:04, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

I checked and found other categories in comedy films and stubs that the naming 1910s American films was better. See Category:American films I have restructured all of the way out of contol sub categories by medium and then into e.g American films by director. The category looks much better already. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:07, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

I have to say you are very cynical about anything I do. Why don't you trust me? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:09, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

You can decide about all the other categories as much as you want I'll leave that the you to ponder over but this sorting out with American films -is inevitable and should have happened months ago. some sub categories are ten pages away!!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:13, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

There should be tens of thousands of American films these should not go into one category. If categroized properly even the broken up categories will be very large. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:17, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

I have also started Category:American films by medium and created those categories within in it. E.g American Pie films should go in category American films by series Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:27, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes I think that is a good idea but I strongly beleive e.g 1980s American comedy films should go in 1980s American films,. Although I said the decade categories would be full they should be ok eventually. These categories I created should be seen as main categories. The genre categories if created could exist dually within them. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:32, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

I did mention it in the project. And all who have participated so far agree Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:34, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Of course I don't want to bypass it all. I am only structuring it becaue it is obviously what to do. I wouldn't want smaller film producers to be structured like this. It is just to make the giant giant category managable and more concise. I don't like to see a category encompassing fifteen different pages!!!Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:37, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes agreed to atempt to house over 100 years of American films in one category is silly. I would hope that the decade categories should be managable on three or so pages that is fine. My only concern about management is for 2000s films which may be too big eventually. THis may eventually have to split again by genre but I have checked the imdb databases and American films by decade should be ok for the long run . Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:46, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Thankyou for showing concern about time wasting. I do have a feeling that the 2000s films will become too bloated eventually how about I leave those to decide for splitting by genre again? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:50, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

TH only thing is we do not really havean idea of how fulo the categories could become eventually. You mean rather than catergorizng sub by decademore sub-sub categorixing directly e.g Category:1960s American horror filmsErnst Stavro Blofeld 22:04, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes of course this a major issue move to project category discussion from now. THe only problem is the further back you go in time the less films were not only produced but also the less films actually on wikipedia. So to genre up the sub decade American category in the 1910s might seem very unnecessary.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:07, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

I think the single sub categories by decade should be ok for America but definately for English-language films it should be sub categorized again by genre within a decade as Ebnglish language films will be the greatest of all film categories Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:16, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

If American films by decade did need to be broken down the most obvious would be by year within that decade.

E.g Category:2004 American films

Anyway I have some partying to do now so all the best for 2007 and WikiProject Film in 2007! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:45, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Happy 2007! I have come up with some musts for categorization. First of all the USA produces many many films every year so the decade cats should not be used to house the films year categories of AMerica should do this. The decades should be just located on the main Category:American films and each one e.g 1990s American films should contain Category:1990 American films Category:1991 Americans films etc.through to 1999 .

Second this process should alos involve a breaking down of the year categories. E.g Category:1999 films. Do you relaise how many films are produced each year. THis needs to be sub categorized by country of production e.g Category:1999 American films and Category:1999 Indian films. My category proposal would serve as a dual category. It would work in e.g American films and films by year would be divided by country. THis method of catergorization would be more precise.

I also very much agree with your idea of Category:1960s American drama films. However first all of the genre categories shuld be split up do you realise how many drama films there are. This should be split into two different categories. Drama films by year and Drama films by country. THe same should be done for all the other genres.

Then rather than films at present being categroized as just drama films this would be far more specific and would accomodate for growth in the future. For example 1961 drama films would inlcude all films produced in the drama genre in 1961 and if it is American then it would also be in the category 1960s American drama films.

This sounds quite complicated but it isn't.

I beleive each article should have categories like this: For instance

Category:1975 American films (single category shows year and country Category:1975 adventure films Category:1970s American adventure films

Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:58, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

then any others.

For example Silent Trigger at present is only categorized as 1996 films -this is very very poor. It shoul dbe categorized at the very least as:

Category:1996 American films Category:1996 action films Category:1990s American action films

Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:15, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

E.g see Category:2006 films ridiculously huge! It should be split by country but you see by altering the categories to become Category:2006 American films or Category:2006 Indian films it breaks up both the huge year categories and the huge country categories at the same time.Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:29, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll wait though before recategorizing articles now so as not to waste time. WikiProject Film categorization should be done efficiently altering and adding categories for each article at the same time. However I will create the categories ready as this is inevitably the way to house the films efficiently and effectively. E.g Ocean's Eleven would not be Category:American films and category 2001 films but would become Category:2001 American films Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:33, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

The more I check the categories and articles the more I see wat a terrible state it is in!!!! Most articles are not categorized properly most American films are not categorized as American etc. Splitting by year is definately the way the go. Majority of film don't have the englsh langage category or the genre etc. The sooner we brgin work on this the better. I suggest Enlgish language filks become e.g 2005 English language films etc Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:00, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I think we're more or less on the same page already with this, so no worries. Unfortunately, at the moment I'm trying to clean up this gigantic mess that Ernst has - again - created by not looking before he leaps. Arg. Girolamo Savonarola 21:25, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I have not created a mess. I only beleive Category:American films needs osrting this way. You cannot attempt to house potentially hundreds of thousands in one category !!!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:27, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I dodn't even intend working much on the recategorizing but I thought setting a few up for you and creating some organization might help. Its just I state my intentions and very few people show an interest Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:38, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

This was the reason I was stopping talking to you because I know you resent me contacting you. You expect me to talk for several weeks about everything yet you don't want me talking about it? Look it is only comon sense to break up a category that could potentially have 100,000 articles.

If everyhting is categorized properly then each American sub category should have a detailed list of A-Z films for each year

I'm sorry but I know I am right and however much you and some others resent and are very very cynical of my work I know this is the way to go. Look the way I see it there is a problem with giant categories I suggest what to do, receive very little response so would rather get on with doing it rather than waiting and waiting. These are common sense moves. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:03, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

And yes I do have good ideas but unfortunately again you cannot see them Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:05, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I know you were playing a central role to the categorization so I thought I would help you out with it by starting it for you. I'm sorry but whenver we have these consensus' they take such a long time and have very few people interested in them anyway. And I do respect you and other users but if I see something that needs doing clearly then I like to get it done . Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:09, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Why. Come on mate please don't waste this Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:11, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

OK then I owe you an apology. I promise from now on I'll wait before making major changes. And this is a promise. Clearly you and the others would show me far more respect not actually from my ideas and contributions to the project but by waiting patiently. A lesson is learned. OK? ALl the best Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:15, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Good morning. Yes I too agree that the year categories should remain intact except that only one subcategory should be created for American films. IN 2005 over 22,000 films were produced worldwide and even if only a quarter of these a notable then that means a potential 5,000 films in one category. If in each year category American films are listed on a page of its own all other films of that year could remain in the main category. I feel it important to distinguish them from the rest asthrough history America has produced the majority of films.

I am very sorry you are tired of me. I have learned my lesson about waiting -its just I see a massive problem which can only get worse as more films and others are recatoerized. I am only trying to help but again it seems I am mistaken. I hope you can forgive me for whatever mess you think I have caused. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 09:02, 2 January 2007 (UTC) I won't butt in with categtories in the future if you feel my efforts are pointless but you should really beleive that I am trying to help. Anyway I have continued and will continue with my work on the lists and Argentine film where I would hope my work would be more accepted and seen as good rather than depicting me as some fool. I have started some six new films from Argentina, Albéniz (film) the latest if you still care about what I have to offer. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:29, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Lists of films by country

As I draw up the lists of missing films (I have tired of trying to help with categories!) I will be attempting to draw up chronological tables as in List of Argentine films for each of the other country lists I started and haven't added to yet. I noticed a comment about the Spanish film list being empty. What I could do is started the chronological table for the countries in the navigation box using the films we already have on wikipedia. Then the new films created as part of the missing articles project can be added afterwards. If you have my blessing I will go ahead and really add something I feel is crucial and is part of the cinema of each country. I beleive that many of the Cinema pages already have the links to the lists of films but many of them are empty. They should be at least laid out in chrono. order asap . Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:14, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks mate I really appreciate your support, the reason I asked is because of obvious reasons I am now a bit more wary of any work I do but I rememebr from the orignal list discussion that many users beleived that timelines were the best way to compile the lists as A-Z can go in categories. Also check out Cinema of Austria now. I only started it a few weeks ago and some user has written a decent article already! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 12:24, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Users such as Radiant below have agreed with my idea that rather than create categories - the complete A-Z country lists should remain intact as categories but that a film chronology of a list of American films could be created as part of the article series with List of Argentine films and List of Canadian films. However List of American films would be on a far grander scale of course - eventually the sheer number of films each year would have a page of its own all organized by the Template:Americanfilms navigation box. The pages would be very useful providing brief details of direcotr actors and release date in date order and also as Radiant suggested studio of production.

I have set up a timeline info box in my User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Sandbox 3 for use but attmepting to timeline American films in this way is a MASSIVE! task that would take many months even years to complete and I don't intend rushing into it yet. Initally I believe that the list should begin as with List of Canadian films but obviously as it is worked on and the lists become organized effectively it will become appropriate to expand them first into decades and later into years. Eventually this would become an excellent part of the Cinema of the United States as the other lists will for their repsective cinemas, accessed from the Film section documenting the entirety of American film history. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:43, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

yes as the lists develop and that table becomes full they will be broken into decades e.g List of Canadian films:1960s. As it stands that table even when some films are added in most of the years and brief details given should be maybe 30kb but as it grows it should be split. Such a large table of every year may not always be appropriate for many of the smaller film producers who didn't start producing films till much later. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:02, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

This way it keeps the categorie simple and provides very useful information. I don't think every film should be included even some of which have an article stub -some questionable documentary films or whatever shouldn't be on the list. I will develop that Canadian list now and we will see how it turns out and how many kb it will be. THis should be a good indication of what to do when compiling the lists. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Do you beleive list of canadian films or whatever is the right naming. The more I develop that page the more it becomes like a filmography -they are more than just lists they provide information too. Don't you think it this series of artics would sound better as e.g Filmography of Canada? The naming is in fitting with the Cinema of pages which these chronological articles are intneded to be a part of. I figure eventually we could replicate the naviagation of the Cinema of pages by not only linking them globally in the box already created but by region. E.g Filmography of Bollywood would have the right hand skinny column of South Asia filmogrpahies in the same way the cinema pages have linking to other filmographies and cinemas of that region? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:36, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I have modified a new template for the lists of films which I feel should replace the current Template:Filmsbycountry similar in form to the world cinema template. See the bottom of the User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Sandbox 3 page. Feel free to modify it but I want to keep the box as condensed as possible Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:34, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

As yet the links are still connected to the cinema pages rather than the lists of films Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:36, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Just to note that I have relinked the box to the appropriate links however I have linked the lists of certain countries to their respective cinemas because a] brief lists are compiled on those cinema pages. b] the lists are not yet started c] there are not enough films to make a list.

I will look towards setting up the timelines of the film countries/industries which obviously have many thousands of films first e.g List of Bollywood films etc. I won't replace it yet until you have looked at it later. I'll continue with the Canadian list and you can check the box when you are not as busy. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:29, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

The box has now been completed although one or two slight adjustments may need to be made. I have sorted out the Americas section and structured it although some of the links to the cinema pages may need directing the Category:...films. It is a major improvement on the original box which had films by region intermingled into the unorganized list by country. Now it is structured in a similar fashion to the world cinema template. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:39, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

E.S.Blofeld

I have added a few more canadian films to that list, added a few Roy Rogers films from my sandbox and alos started The Black Watch from the missing 1929 list. But in doing so do you think that the stub categories for the drama and adventure films are enough or do you think something like 1920s-US-film-stub also might encourage people to write fuller articles for such films? THis way we can distinguish the American films that need writing from a stub? Its just a passing idea. If you think it is a good idea I will propose it to the project BEFORE acting.

Also any latest developments on that sorting technology from meta that radiant suggested? It would be very useful to save time in me going through the A-Z categories and sorting them into chronologcial lists of the lists by country particularly those countries which already have a mass of films on wikipeidaErnst Stavro Blofeld 13:59, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I have proposed it on the main stub sorting page. It was only a suggestion. I beleive e.g romantic comedies stubs have already been split into decades but if everyone decides the genre stub categories are enough this is ok but I thought it might be useful to distinguish American films that need writing from the decent articles. And don't be too sure yet my suggestion will be rejected. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:32, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Have you is asking ever seen Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)? This along with the Avengers, Fawlty Towers, the A-Team and Monty Python are among the greatest ever. I just had to start the first episode of it earlier My Late Lamented Friend and Partner. You are probably not interested as it is not strictly film but I thought I'd ask. I will be creating all 26 of the episodes also with my work on film if you don't have any objections so I am going to be very busy!! Forgive me for my distraction. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:48, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I mean it mate you would absolutely love them. They occasionally show them on UK Gold and Hallmark cable channel but I don't know if you have those in Austria. Very similar in style to the Avengers and the Saint - very 1960s London with that characteristic 60s soundtrackyou would hear in films like Thunderball with the trumpets. I believe someone is selling them on ebay thats where I bought the box set. Excellent stuff. I felt the work is quite important also as it roots out the missing actors. I just began Dolores Mantez to rid of some of the red links. I would send a dvd to you if I could it is that great! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:24, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I have added a few more Canadian films to the List of Canadian films.- I thought it better to split the last few decades as there are far more films, unlike Argentina where the cinems was in its golden age in the 1940s ans 1950s. There is a vertical navigation box on the right hand side. E.g see List of Canadian films:2000s. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes that is a possibility as is studio of release. However not every film wins or is nominated for a award and there may be many empty boxes. There are many many films which are notable starring super star actors which haven't won awards. If the film has won an award this should be noted in the table. I definately think when I eventually compile the American films there are so many that only the films hat have been nominated for awards and won awards should be included. I beleive that list looks much better broken up. ALso see the list of missing Argentine films I have added some 11 new ones now -that category will take shape eventually. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:50, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

It seems the others speak to you more than me!! I have added severla films from the early 1930s you may want to cross them off. I also started Harry Piel a major German cinema figure and I was amzed there was no article. I would mean a great deal to me if you could translate from German wikipedia as my German is very poor. Danke. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:51, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

I have started a few more Argentine films but the most recent are stubs. I would rather get rid of the red links and get them established first then I'll go back and fill them out later. As I filter the list I will add them to the list of films in the namespace and soon we should have great filmogrpahies by country, However I was thinking do you think all the Spanish titles should be directed to the English names. I mean to Spanish people they mean the same thing to us in the English naming? I have also created some 17 epsidoes now of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) -I just had to do it and somebody has said what an excellent job I have done.

I have also been nominated to be a Wikipedia Administrator but I don't what to get tied down Ernst Stavro Blofeld 23:08, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Have you seen Blofeld's talk page? My first thought was "Ah!", but I think he'll be okay, not understanding enough of everything, nor good at discussing. ;) Which are two things vital to adminship, so I'll probably oppose. But, just think, now he can delete all the things he does that he creates accidentally or without discussion!

You all really appreciate me very good to know!! Clearly other users see not only my vast contributions to wikipedia and my corretcions to intros and categories of unrelated new articles but how I actually coordinate and help many users who come to me for help and advice. I do a great deal more than you give me credit for and seem to think of me as some kind of nuisance. And you think I don't discuss anything? Have a look at you r talk page history! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 23:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Just remember that any time I have created changes in the past was because I was only trying to improve the project for everybody which I belelive I am doing in a major way. You and some others seem to think that all I have done is attack the project!! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 23:33, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

OK thanks. Its just when you and users like c brown and nehrams are discussing things it seems like you wouldn't accept me anyway. You all seem very close and you tend to speak of me as an outsider. I guess it is my own fault for not waiting long enough during those discussions. I would lke some chance to prove that I can discuss things and am an equal to the rest of you. All the best - Ernst Stavro Blofeld 11:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I was thinking. As I have been adding the Argentine films to wikipedia I was thinking how useful it might be to establish exactly the same process of missing actors and directors as films. E.g every red link I come across add it to a missing cinema characters behind the mainspace. However is this outside the scope of Films? Because I think they should go hand in hand and beleive articles on actors and directors should be a key part of the project -if it wasn;t for them films wouldn't exist!! I seem to recall a proposal for a WIkiProject Actors and Directors? I would prefer it ti exist within WikiProject Films a major branch of it Missing actors and missing directors organized by nationality Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:39, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

THat Argetine film category is now shaping properly -it was because it was empty before. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:39, 13 January 2007 (UTC).

Argentina

We now have about 130 films in Category:Argentine films. I feel I will make much quicker progess if I start them all at a minimum first and add an image if possible - the task of missing films that way is less daunting and once established we can begin developing and researching each article. Also could you ask cbrown to restore that automatic wiki film tag in the talk pages of my films as it saves having to make many unnecessary edits. Also any more thought on the missing actors directors. I would just an exact replica of the List of missing films by country I created just altered to fromat actors and directors. My Randall and Hopkirk mini TV project is now almost complete too! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:31, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

In the talk pages of every film article there should be a {{film}} tag. Several weeks ago C Brown put a semi-automatic edit on my film articles which automatically places this tag in the talk pages Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:50, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

OK but I do actually check many of the links as I often mention the films I create in actors or directors articles. ALthough I think for a few films maybe American ones I didn't Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:03, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I have split the List of Argentine films by decade now its looking really good. The great thing anout these lists by country is that we get a great understanding of the cinema of each country in decades and the material will then be there (the films the actors and directors) to attempt to write all of the the main cinema pages into featured articles that are neatly structured by decade. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:17, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Yes maybe to write them into good articles then. Yes there are not too many professional film resources on the internet and of course it would help if you have seen the films and have professional critic views and library books. But a very good structured detailed overview of all of the cinema pages can easily be achieved. I have split the missing Argentine page now into two as it was too long before. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 20:36, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I was going to get round to that. Ta! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:46, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I added all the info boxes before but the last lot I will go back and add the info boxes. I told you I want to start these and in many of my edits I have said "starting Argentine film will expand fully and add info box later asap". THis will be done in a few days. And I don't see how I am really unfair on others. I am doing the bulk of work! As I said I'll add the info boxes on the last lot I have the list in my user completed films to go through after, Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:08, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

No worries see User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Completed missing films Film needing info box I have a list to plough through to add info boxes. I feel removing the red links first is very important and then for example when I have finished films beginning with A I can go back and add them all quickly. Most of my new articles have the relevant info anyway for starters but I'll need to add the infoboxes anyway when I go through and start the cinema people e.g editors, cinematogrpahers, score musicians etc. But if you like I can use the info box from now on its just I feel it takes a lot longer. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:18, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Remember pasting the Roy Rogers filmograhy into my sandbox? If there are any thing you want me to do in future you could you paste it into my to do list: User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Blofeld's Secret Note Pad. Cheers Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:45, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I have found yet another good reason for those lists of film in time order. They not only natually give us the list of missing actors and directors by starting the films but by using the new articles such as José A. Ferreyra I can use the filmographies of these notable cinema characters to add to the missing lists of films by year and country. I think I actually prefer to create articls on actors and direcotrs but the films need doing first Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

ESB

My only concern about working on Argentine films is that there is a MASSIVE amount of work to do on Argentina alone let alone the rest of the world and it will be years before it is all covered. Ideally there should be a WikiProject:Argentine cinema of its own with tens of users dedicated to concentrating on Argentine cinema adding films developing stubs into full articles and writing articles on actors, directors, cinematographers, editors, score musicians, producers etc. as with India cinema. If this project is to develop it needs to become more specialized in this way. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:16, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Oh I almost forgot to ask you. Do you think it would be a good idea to document all births and deaths related to cinema in categories. E.g cinema people articles for example Amelia Bence. [[:Category:1919 births would also go in Category:1919 cinema births. I have noticed that imdb have got a day by day timeline of each year from January to December from like 1890 to 2007 documenting births and deaths of world cinema.

E.g the pages would be part of the years in film pages e.g

Its just an idea Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:27, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually its probably best they remain on the main cinema pages until they develop into longer lists. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:34, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

By country lists

Yes if you could somehow intergrate the date into the year it would look more profesional have a go I know you did a good job on those cinema templates. I feel it importnt and useful for the lists to be ordered by date of release -more specific and knoweldgeable but also tells us when the film premiere was. Have a go Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:09, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I figured adjusting the first column would bloat it too wide this is why I figured it was best at the end where there is space. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:14, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I also feel it more professional to reference the work. For example on List of Canadian films:1980s on the 1985 film Joshu Now and Then clearly you cannot write all 5 award wins and 7 nominations in the table so I have linked it externally to the award table. I would hope as this develops from trivial looking lists to important very useful cinema documents that each film of note will have an important awards table in the articles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:36, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Other than that it can redirect to 7th Genie Awards on wikipedia itself - but I feel this is better in a table of some kind. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:39, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I have found a way to break a skinny column in with the date see List of Canadian films:1960s without bloating the table. The question is before I go any further should this column go before the title or after it before the direcotr or in the end column?. In my view it should go between the title and the director as it distracts away from the title at the very beginning Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:33, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

my gut feeling on this is that the date would look best on the end column. For example for many films the exact date is not known and can just be left out - I beleive it is the least important of the other info but a final column for the date I feel is useful. If you agree I can adjust my timeline template and adjust what I have done already - I would rather sort this now rather than have to waste time adjusting it later. If we can agree on a fixed format for all the lists then I know I can continue with confidence that it has the "seal of approval".

I am thinking that where the date doesn't apply I can add a slash to fill in the gaps -readers will also understand then that the date was not fixed - I'll keep it next to the year I think as you said the title is in bold, one thing though if you are going to announce it I would prefer it was anounced in relation to all of the template:filmsbycountry lists -austria, canada and argentina are just the ones that have been started so far and are just beginning and I don't want to feel pressure they must look completely full and complete asap! See ya. I'll fix my template nowErnst Stavro Blofeld 19:56, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I just wasn't happy with that date column within the table it looked too full. How about the lay out looks like List of Canadian films:2000s, sub sectioned by year rather than one huge table. That way under each year the date could replace the year at the side in the first column -it looks very similar now to the page you showed me earlier and I feel it easier to understand by year Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:03, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I also do agree with you both about the date but if it is split as I have shown I feel it looks much better in the first column -the year is not needed in the tables as it is sub sectioned by year anyway But I can't get the lines to go across! How do I do this? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:57, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

For example on the list of List of Canadian films:2000s rather than have the year now as the first column replace it with the dates but it needs lining all the way acrossErnst Stavro Blofeld 21:59, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

ah well done - I will fix the header to release rather than date -also have you notcied how much more room there is without the templates further down the page? If I remove the north american cinema one (this is connected on Cinema of Canada page anyway and replace the vertical Canada list template with a horizontal box there should be room for one more column which I feel is missing which I know nehrams and several others though was a good idea, -studio of production Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:07, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

It think the 2000 films on the page now has one column too many -how about genre has its own column but the last column becomes Studio/Notability instead of Genre/ Notability (and yes it looks much better with a space between them)Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:23, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Congrats your help is very much appreciated. I reckon if certain long titles and awards is sorted with a page break or shortened using pop-ups we can can get in all the columns horizontally Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:34, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

hey good morning are we on the same wavelength or what! I was just about to restore it! The reason I took it way was becuase of the bloating but now it is sub structured its absolutely fine! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 08:53, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

First of all I want to standardize the canadian tables. However for the lists where there are only one or two per country and only a few per decade I won't bother with the dates yet. It is only as they develop e.g 3 or more films per year the tables will become like Canada 2000s with the dates first. OK? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 08:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Well it should try to be in chrono order but if there are only two or three films (1 in some cases) as yet it won't matter till they develop. I live in Barry, Wales (bad article hasn't even got a locator map! ) near Cardiff. which is only 38 miles from England- Yesterdy I uploaded my pictures from Porthkerry Park and Viaduct the main. Also Bristol Channel pic with the rainbow is mine. I am a keen photographer, Llantwit Major Beach, Wenvoe St Andrews Major some local articles and photos I added. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 09:05, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Template:Argentinefilms
I have adapted new navigation templates to look exactly like the regional ones - for Canada and Argentina and all the country multi page lists will have a template like this. Each new template now has the large film image and the Cinema of with the list underneath. I would prefer only the one template down the side as e.g it connects to Cinema of Argentina this then of course connects to the regional. These pages are intenede to be extensions of the main Cinema of pages - so the regional should be removed - the master template at the bottom connects to other countries in the region. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:37, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

remove the other template that says CInema of United States etc. for the lists. The template now connects to the cinema of page where the regional template for the cinema of pages is Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

E.g on List of Argentine films:1920s only the one Argentine template for the lists. The two clutter it too much Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:46, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

It can remain on the main list pages though e.g List of Argentine films because as this develops I reckon I can replica the regional cinema boxes with the regional list equivalent to fit in, e.g List of Colombian films List of Brazilian films in identical appearance to the cinema of pages -showing it is part of the series. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:49, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

yes I agree too many on thhat page I have taken out the side one the horizontal one is better for the main page as it covers all aspects Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:06, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

yes its best to limit the number of templates keep it as one for the mulitple page lists one for the overall cinema. the skinny horizontal plate I created for the overall cinema is on the main Argentina page and looks fine. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 14:15, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I figured two or three of the major films from each year to illustrate moments in cinema history would be ok. They are illustrating the important films in question Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I have to keep reminding myself this is suposed to be a free encyclopedia. Wikipedia does have its flaws in this I mean a major part of cinema is imagery - media that helps gain an understanding of the subject. But they aren't violating any more than images in the Cinema pages are? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:17, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Your probably right though. How about just one image per year not into a gallery box but at the beginning at the right - I'm sure that would be ok? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:38, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey I have just realised why Shawn is interested notably in short docmentraies - he works for the National Film Board of Canada! Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:45, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey some of my newest films I felt like starting show no boundaries this is global!! See Aa Ab Laut Chalen and Auzaar (Bollywood) Nizhalkuthu (Malayalam), and Darkness in Tallinn (Estonian)! Check out the curves on the women of Barbarian Queen! The leading women was also in the A-team. I have found a quicker way to filter down the notable lists now and have eached M now for Argentina. As soon as it is done I will sort them into years on my User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Film sorting user page and complete the lists entirely. If red links start to add up I'll blacken them out until I start them asap. The good thing is that users are starting to appear from many of the countries across the world -we know already Wide Kwai takes care of Thailand, Shawn, Canada, another user Austria but I have found LuigiBob interested in starting Latin films , someelese with Portuguese and a user who I helped make the article a pictured did you know Cathedral Saint-Peter Saint-Paul is from Bulgaria and is adding several from Bulgaria. he speaks Bulgarian and has watched the movies himself! Its terrific wikipedia is so huge that is can draw in people for every field imaginable. I hope soon it will grow so each major country has a Wiki cinema project like India Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:58, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

I see you have been doing the rounds on adding the film templates and adding info boxes. Good. But for every U.S film you see can you add Category:American films as you said there are only about 9/10 of US films tagged as American and Category:English-language films. If they can categorize 150,000 living people in Category:Living people then I don't see it as a problem. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:30, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes this is what I mean put every American film in one American category this is fine - this way they will be easier to find. I did think before that in a few years time it might have been better for it structured as I said but as it doesn't cause a strain on the server in one category then I back it to stay, And trust me you won't be getting any major changes from me from now on without major consultation! Too stenuous!! See yaErnst Stavro Blofeld 18:51, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

If you like I will only create the new articles with the info boxes from now on - it does save effort later - most I have started do have info boxes but there are about 20 or so Argentine films in the middle of the A list in Category:Argentine films which I wanted to start very quickly to get this going. And the majority of my films have the film template label in the talk page Ernst Stavro Blofeld 10:54, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

The films without an info box I started are listed in User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Blofeld's Secret Note Pad. -gradually I'll add the info boxes. Now this is off and running though it is easier to start with the film box from the start -easier to track and better for you all. The good thing though is as I am filtering the Argentine lists I am beginning to get a very good understanding of Argentine cinema - there are a handful of key direcotrs and actors which turn up on almost every film of note . I have listed them on the same page -When these are started it will remove tons of red links from any films articles and on the lists themselves Ernst Stavro Blofeld 13:02, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes most of the films I have ever started on wikipedia always have an info box I think you know anyway it was just that few and maybe several other stray that will just need an infobox. Most of those sub stubs I haven't checked the www.acceder.buenosaires.arg site yet for images so they can be improved a lot even without researhcing. I just started Besos Brujos a classical Argentine film it takes a bit more time but quality of the stub is much better i.e better a stub than a sub-stub. It is far easier also to track then. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:54, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

It is good though that each new article is starting to have links -the cinema oof Argentina is beginning to fit together already - I put a bit more effort into Roberto Escalada yesterday and I really feel quite pleased when I can write in those blue links. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 17:01, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

I was wondering should all Indian films be tagged as belonging to WikiProject Film as well? because nearly every film I have seen from India on wikipedia is only tagged as Indian cinema. If so whenever I view an Indian film I can casually add the film template Ernst Stavro Blofeld 18:49, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Award boxes / tables

Absoutely I think this shuld be an intergral part of the article. We should create an official table for wikiproject for awards which everyone can use on every film winning or film nominated article. Wonder why it was rejected?? That's odd. See El Faro I started earlier. I was asking Nehrams if one existed because the film was nominated or won like 10 or so awards and couldn't convey the info in text. I suggest an award section should exist on all articles that have won awards with a nice award table Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:09, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

It wouldn't be an info box like the film info box it would be a table like on the Lists of Canadian films but with headings like Year Award win nomination along the top and Award type vertical e.g Oscar awards then Golden Globes whatever underneath etc. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:14, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

It wouldn't clutter the page at all it would look fine something like this:

Awards

Year Award Win Nomination
1998 Golden Globe Best Catalan actress: Ingrid Rubio
Montreal World Film Festival Best Film
Best Editing
Best Casting
Best new actor
Best screenwriting

A small table in the appropriate article would look good to summarize the awards of the film in question. -providing important info clearly. I don't mean change any format or anything or try to change anything anyone has done with awards - just a way of providing the award information better in individual film articles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 21:59, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

There we are see El Faro now. I think the table looks really good and provides the missing info well. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 22:42, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
