Rhon "Musicology" Matthison Jamaican born and raised, Rhon Matthison began his journey in music right out of high school. He had experience in playing within the context of the church, and decided not to limit himself to one particular style, which led to his transition into mainstream music, after being called to play for Reggae Gospel Artiste Lieutenant Stitchie.
With diligence, a clear focus and passion for excellence, Rhon was soon adept in a variety of musical styles. Although his first love is the bass guitar, he is also skilled on other instruments such as keyboards and drums.
Rhon has played with major Reggae Gospel recording artistes on tours and impromptu. His travels covers 98% of Caribbean countries, North America, South America Canada, Africa and many others.
From 2006-2014 he served as the Music Director and Bassist for Reggae Artiste PRODGIAL SON . He is a sought after musician in the music realms of Reggae, Urban Gospel, Pop, Contemporary Christian and Contemporary Jazz. He has played with Jamaican artistes such as , D. Major, Ikaya, Duane Stephenson, Shuga, Sherieta, Pam Hall, Prodigal Son, Jason Mighty, Papa San, Stitchie, Goddy Goddy, Omari, DJ Nicholas, Chevelle Franklin, Carlene Davis, Martins Heritage, Dwayne Murphy, Sherwin Gardner (Trinidad), Judith Gayle and many others. Also International Gospel Artistes: RICKY DILLARD, BYRON CAGE, DONNIE McCLURKIN, HELEN BAYLOR, MARTHA MUNIZZI, MARY ALESI, ALVIN SLAUGHTER AND WILLIAM MURPHY.
In addition to playing, performing and recording with talented and well known musicians, Rhon has also Produced for some of the great names in Jamaican Gospel such as Prodigal Son, Sherwin Gardner and Jason Mighty, just to name a few.
He is proficient on the 4, 5, and 6 string bass, and currently uses FENDER JAZZ and IBANEZ BASSES, DR STRINGS AND AMPEG OR GALLIEN KRUEGER AMPLIFIERS and Endorsed by FSP Custom Cables.
