Ian Alexander (Director and Editor)[edit]

Ian Alexander Levine is a California based Director and Editor. Originally from Vermont, he was raised off-the-grid by nature loving artists at the base of a mountain with goats, beehives and a windmill.

At first, finding his voice through producing experimental hip-hop, Ian ultimately fell in love with filmmaking and launched his career in the San Francisco Bay Area where he worked his way up through creative agencies, production companies and high-profile projects for brands like Intel, Airbnb, Adobe, Google and Meta.

Some of Ian's recent work includes [1]'Noted' a five-part Docu-series featuring the life and career of Alicia Keys, the SXSW official selection and Catalyst award winning pilot [2]'This Isn't Me', and The New York Times documentary short [3]'Into The Labyrinth'.

An experimentalist at heart, Ian's work is defined by its alluring tonality, rhythmic musicality, and imaginative approach to story. Ian is available worldwide.

YouTube Originals[edit]

Alicia Keys 'Noted' Docu-series. (Editor)[edit]

[4]A 2021 five-part TV mini-series about the life and career of American singer and songwriter Alicia Keys. Alicia revisits her rise to stardom and the hard road she took from being an impressionable young artist in a tough industry, to being the empowered icon she is today. Alicia visits with her father to heal past wounds and liberate herself from the past.

The New York Times[edit]

Into The Labyrinth (Director)[edit]

[5]The work of Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto carries more weight than meets the eye. His large-scale installations created with salt are an expression of loss, acceptance, and preservation. Born in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Yamamoto started using salt in his installations as a way of coping with death — both the passing of his sister in 1994 due to a brain tumor and, years later, the loss of his wife of 25 years due to breast cancer. His work became a catalyst for dealing with grief, as well as a vehicle for acknowledging those no longer with us.

WhatsApp[edit]

Instrument of Connection (Co-Director & Editor)[edit]

The pandemic changed everything. In 2020 when a violin teacher in Rio de Janeiro was no longer able to meet with her students in-person, she thought she had no choice but to take a break. But with the knowledge that her students relied on their violin lessons for connection and they were becoming lonely — she created an unconventional way to start up her private violin lessons again.

Intel[edit]

Experience What's Inside (Editor)[edit]

[6]In 2016 Intel's internal agency 'The Agency Inside' was in need of a brand anthem, a film that showcased the cutting edge work they'd created to date, but also a cohesive story that would wow live audiences around the world during keynotes from top executives at the company. I worked closely with the team at Intel to craft a music driven banger that received roaring applause in theaters world-wide and a brand anthem that became integral in creative pitch decks and proposals for years after.

Lady Gaga's David Bowie Tribute (Editor)[edit]

[7]Intel approached Lady Gaga in 2016 and asked, "How would you use Intel technology in your live performance?" Gaga partnered with Intel to put together the incredible, high-tech performance, which was a collaborative display of technology and music that included a dancing robotic keyboard and facial projection technology. "Tributing David Bowie is the most incredible honor that anyone's ever given me," Lady Gaga exclaims.

Airbnb[edit]

Arca (Lead Editor)[edit]

[8]Marko, the host who makes the rainforest feel like home, built his sustainable house "Arca" to let guests reconnect with nature, deep in Brazil’s Mata Atlântica. But he refuses to take credit for its ingenious, open-ended design. For the whole roof structure, he says, he copied a leaf. A Branded Documentary wherein Ian Alexander was the Lead Editor.
