Ms. Kitty Litter is the drag persona of Stephen Hartley, an American drag queen, and LGBT and AIDS activist. She is considered a gay icon of Rhode Island.[1] Ms. Kitty Litter retired briefly from drag performance in Rhode Island in 2015, and continues to perform in North Carolina.
Hartley grew up in Johnston, Rhode Island [1]. He began performing in 1996 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island at a fundraiser for people living with HIV/AIDS.[2]
Ms. Kitty Litter performs primarily for charitable causes,[1] including Sojourner House.[3] Hartley has worked as a development director at AIDS Care Ocean State,[4] House of Hope, and, as Ms. Kitty Litter, hosted AIDS Care Ocean State's Gay Bingo.[5] Ms. Kitty Litter performed regularly at Comedy Connection, a comedy club in East Providence.
Ms. Kitty Litter appeared in the 2008 documentary, Life's A Drag.[6]
