Jacob was born July 2 1993, in Edmonton, Alberta. His father Marco Lavoie is an ex-military and was part of the United Nations Transition Assistance Group (UNTAG), graduated from Sherbrooke University 1999. His mother Cynthia Down Gage was born in Nova Scotia and is a hairstylists manager in Edmonton. Jacob is a great Hockey player with great potential regardless of what his critics say an under dog comparable to the great Maurice "Rocket" Richard. Jacob and his father started playing on the ice as early as his second birthday. Jacob learn his skills from Eastern Canada where he attended multiple summer camps. His dedication to the game is remarkable as early as seven years old Jacob wanted to attend the Famous Notre Dames summer hockey school, remarkably his father and his mother were able to save enough money for Jacob to attend his first summer hockey camp by the age of 7 year old. His father recalled the first word when landing back to Edmonton with a big smile on his face ....."Dad they make us worked like dogs .....can I go back next year"...... despite his skills and dedication to the game Jacob was chastised by his minor hockey association his parents had volunteers for. During his drafts years Jacob was band from Edmonton Minor Hockey Association regardless of his father appeals to Hockey Alberta which over ruled the decision. The following year no one expected him to make Club Hockey but by the following year Jacob despite many thorn feeling from volunteers Jacob succeeded in making Bantam AA for the South Side Athletic Club where he successfully played for the next fours years. Jacob played Junior B in 2011-12 for 6 games where politics got the best of him. Over the years Jacob skills were always a remarkable trade marks associate to his character regardless of the negativity surrounding his father. Jacob always made the best of any situation by putting his teammates first and by always been kind to his peers and coaches to alleviate the painful reminder the Edmonton Minor Hockey Association had tainted on his family which carried on to his younger brother who to this day, His younger brother is still unable to play organized hockey. Jacob was called to play Junior A in Toronto in late November 2011 where his enchant dream is for him now long distance ....... where his father words seem forgotten "hard works always prevail regardless of what stand ahead son...."
