Tan Yang was a Chinese socialite, the daughter of a wealthy father, who began a career acting that was cut short by her husband. She emigrated from China to the United States in 1948. Not famous as an actor, the media was interested in her lifestyle, her fashion, the way she dressed and looked. They covered the products she used, the perfume, purse, shoes and their costs. She was featured on the front cover of The Young Companion (issue 18), a news and pictorial magazine that frequently had actresses and artists on its cover, as well as school girls.
