qMoGen Qmogen (also called self-powered generators, looping and self-looping motor-generators and self-running generators) refers to a class of motor-generators that power themselves, while producing excess electricity in some amount. Though, on first examination, not only the laws of Thermodynamics, but also common sense would indicate that losses due to friction would invariably run down a machine that had been "jump started" using an external power source, but otherwise powered itself, the simplest and lightest of the models made indicate that as long is the current from one to the other is rectified, and polarity from one to the other is reversed, the energy supplied by the permanent magnet rotor of the generator, and possibly the motor also, is sufficient to power the entire assembly to operating speed and thus output is limited in a motor hp minus generator requirements fashion.

As much of the work on qmogens is being done abroad by practical mechanics seeking free energy for their tools and appliances, very little of theoretical significance filters through the language and "paper" barrier, giving skeptics a very large pulpit from which to hurl accusations of fraud, pathological science and opportunism (YouTube and other platforms offer advertisers a chance to list their products, and millions may view a youtube video, or website claiming that free energy is now available should you follow or buy their plans).

A comprehensive list of qmogen products has already been created, and here we will review some of the most promising. The best purely magnetic motors will also be examined, though magnetic motors are only as good as their magnets, and though powerful magnets have been developed in recent years, all permanent magnets wear out, and must be replaced.

First, let us look at a model that may easily be reproduced in classes and by interested parties to test the basic workability of the concept, the simplest and lightest as referenced above;
