-T-box Brain Protein, TBR1 for short, also known as T-Brain 1, and TES-56

-made up of 6 exons

-transcription factor expressed in postmitotic projection neurons

-Classification Group: Beta-Hairpin-Ribbon-Group, Family: Transcription Factor T-Domain

-developmental process

-normal brain development

-neuronal differentiation

-transition from intermediate progenitor cell to post mitotic neuron

-regulation of neurons in developing neocortex

-identified in 1995

Relation to Other Genes[edit]

-Human gene TBR1 has an orthologous gene in zebrafish

-TBR1 is downstream of Pax6

-TBR1 is a promoter of Auts2

-TBR1 represses Fezf2

-Af9 associates with transcriptional start site of TBR1

-TBR1 forms T-box gene family with TBR2 and T-BET

-CASK is a coactivator of TBR1

Experimentation/Studies in Other Species[edit]

-TBR1 is involved in frontal identity

-transcription factor sequence: Pax6 → Tbr2 → Tbr1

-Similar protein in mice involved in cortical development

-Expressed in mouse CNS

-Appears to be restricted to glutamatergic neurons in mice

Division of Workload[edit]

We have decided to meet Tuesdays at 2 to work on our project. We think that this is the best way for all of us to discuss and understand fully the topic so that we can create a cohesive article. We recognize that we have not provided examples of current research. This is an area we plan to further develop as we go forth in this project.
