I was born in South Africa, live in Madagascar, France and the US, and I'm interested in:

• history
• economics (particularly development economics)
• environment.

I also enjoy painting when I have the time (mostly watercolors, but more recently oils), sailing, mountain climbing, classical music. I'm bilingual French/English and speak some Spanish.

I'm not an expert in anything so I don't think I'll be writing a complete article anytime soon, but I certainly can add to existing articles (e.g. Madagascar; some of the discussion on the fall of Constantinople; etc.)

I hope this doesn't all sound too self-indulgent -- it's embarrassing writing about oneself.
