The A Word is a short documentary film directed by Lindsay Ellis as a thesis film for the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

Contents[edit]

In 2009, Lindsay Ellis, at the time a 26-year old grad student, had an abortion. “The A Word” follows her story as she talks to her family and organizations from both sides of the abortion debate. The film deals with Lindsay's endeavors to shed the stigma attached to the "A-word" in hopes of starting a dialogue, instead of focussing on the religious and political side of the debate.

The documentary was featured at the 2012 International Documentary Association DocuWeeks Theatrical Documentary Showcase.[1]
