On December 15, 1947 the Burlington Boys and Girls Band was created, and under the leadership of Elgin Corlett, 75 young musicians welcomed home our veterans in style. Two years later, in the summer of 1949, the band travelled to Warren, Ohio to perform at a football game and play a concert in what was their first appearance outside of Ontario.

In 1965 the name of the band was changed to the, Burlington Teen Tour Band and through the generations has become a Burlington institution that has garnered accolades from around the world as well as numerous trophies and awards that are proudly displayed at the Burlington Music Centre.

On May 14, 2010 the Burlington Teen Tour Band participated in a competition in Buckhannon, West Virginia, in which for the first time in the bands history, it performed in a concert competition, competing against bands that only do concerts and nothing else. The band left Buckhannon with six first place and two second place awards in which one was a first place for the concert competition. The band also scored a record 98 (out of 100) for music and a 97 for marching.

The BTTB is open to young people between the ages of 13 and 21 and everyone who joins is automatically a member of the marching band. Within the Teen Tour Band there are several other "specialty groups" including Flute, Clarinets and saxophone quartets, a Brass Ensemble, and Fanfare Trumpeters.

The BTTB offers the youth of Burlington the ability to see the world and has performed in countries like Japan and Holland as well as performing all over the USA and are the only band, outside of the USA, to ever be invited to perform in Hawaii at the Pearl Harbour Memorial.
