Week 4

The introduction only has one sentence, therefore, it needs more details about the present day or should describe the neighborhood around the synagogue. If I find more sources, I will possibility add to the existing citation list and provide more background information on the history.

Week 5

The Free Synagogue of Flushing was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 2009. The synagogue is located in the corner of the busiest streets, being surrounded by apartment and commercial buildings. Going further east, is the Flushing Post Office, another historical building. Today, the Free Synagogue of Flushing hosts many events and still welcomes any prayers. Founded in 1917, it will be celebrating its 100 years anniversary in 2017. The synagogue was one of the earliest one founded in Queens. For the exterior appearance of the synagogue, it was designed by Architect Courland who is a specialist in synagogue design. He made the Flushing synagogue with a neo-Georgian temple front, with a long flight of stone steps. The building is beautified with ornamental Judaic motifs, such as a seven-branched menorah. [2]
