Robin Laverne Wilson is a performance artist and activist who was the 2016 Green Party candidate seeking election to the U.S. Senate from New York.[1] She is a prominent member of the Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping Choir. Wilson is also known by her pen and stage name Dragonfly.[2]

Early life[edit]

Wilson was born in Detroit, Michigan and from age 9 was raised in Converse, Texas. She was a member and served as an officer of the San Antonio Branch of the Youth NAACP under the leadership of community activist Ethel Minor.[3]

Education[edit]

Wilson received her bachelors degree from the Honors College at Rutgers University-Newark with an interdisciplinary degree in media and business. She was distinguished by the university as being among the top ten graduates to watch in 2008.[4][5] She is pursuing a Master's of Arts in Applied Theatre from CUNY School of Professional Studies.
