3B Scientific is an international group of companies that manufactures anatomical teaching products, medical simulators and physics apparatus for education. It is a family run company, founded under the name Paul Binhold Lehrmittelfabrik in 1948 by Paul Binhold, his wife Hedwig Binhold and daughter Marion Binhold. The company is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany and has manufacturing facilities in Germany, Poland, Hungary and China.
3B Scientific received ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2001 and has production facilities in Germany, Poland, Hungary and China. The company was recognized in by Hermann Simon as a role model for other small to medium sized business in his book Hidden Champions.
Manufacturing history[edit]
The group's oldest manufacturing site in Budapest, Hungary, began its manufacturing history in 1819 producing anatomical and biological teaching aids. The company produced its first plastic human skeleton model in 1950. This was soon followed by the opening of a manufacturing plant to make the skeletons in 1952. A line of human torso models was introduced in 1965. The company began using injection molding to produce skeleton parts in 1983. By 1986 patient care manikins and medical simulators were added to the product range. An extensive range of physics equipment was introduced in 2001.
