Beanbag Learning is an internet startup company founded in 2007 and based in Bristol, UK. Beanbag Learning is a free service that enables parents and tutors connect without the middleman. [1].

Beanbag Learning was founded by Kevin Gibson, Jon Ellis and Peter Ferne. The site is funded by Jiva Technology, amongst others, and has won a UK Catalyst award for the social use of technology [1] and a New Statesman New Media Award 2008. [2] In 2010, School of Everything was chosen by Becta and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills as its new platform for adult informal learning in the UK.[3] amongst others, and has been recommended by Futurelab won a UK Catalyst award for the social use of technology [4] and a New Statesman New Media Award 2008. Service[edit]

Via the website, learners are able to search for tutors in their area, and, similarly teachers can search for learners. Registration is free, the site caters for teachers who charge for their lessons as well as those who offer lessons for free, or as part of a skill swop.
