From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Doctor's Wife (Documentary Film) ... is a [1] themed [2] about a gay couple who move to the country from the city. The film began production when Dr Vincent Cornelisse decided to leave urban [3] and move to country [4] in order to further his career. However, Vincent wouldn't do this without his partner, Jonathan Duffy. Neither of the two had ever lived in a country town and were excited about the scene change but nervous about how they would be received because they are a gay couple. A friend jokingly suggested that Jonathan should film their experience in case they were murdered. Jonathan decided to do this, not because he thought they would be in danger, because he believed that it was going to be a positive and enlightening journey. The Doctor's Wife explores their journey through Jonathan's eyes.

The film was originally competed in March 2011 and had its first public screening at the Hollywood Fringe Festival [Film]. It later went on to receive inclusion in the official selections of; The tropical Alternatives Film Festival, Canberra Spring Out Festival (Australia), and the Perth Pride Film Festival (Australia).

The film's Director, Jonathan Duffy, was approached by a US distribution company in mid 2011. The company wished to purchase the world-wide distribution rights to the film. Duffy turned them down, stating that he didn't feel the terms were the most desirable.

He was later approached by leading GLBT production company and distribution label "Guest House Films LLC." Impressed by their track record and devotion to the GLBT community, Duffy signed and the film entered distribution in early 2012.
