is a industry association of companies^[1] that offer legal plans typically for basic legal needs at a monthly cost and discounts for complicated services typically they have exclusions such as not representing people who do crime.^[2] typically they are for individuals, families, and small business. if offered by employers they typically prohibit employees from using them against their employers^[3]

Criticism of pre-paid legal plans[edit]

NOLO Has criticized pre-paid legal plans for not being worth the money and only offering basic legal plans such as filing a will and talking on the phone.^[4] other groups have criticised legal plan companies such as Legal Shield for Multi-Level Marketing^[5]

Affiliation[edit]

the GLSA is associated with the American Bar Association^[6] and member groups are on a list for legal- plan companies^[7] although not all pre-paid legal companies are on the list
