Mashinky is a real-time strategy video game in development by Jan Zelený. It has been available as an early-access game on Steam since 2017.[1] Development of Mashinky began in 2009, and the game is updated weekly and scheduled for release in 2019[2].[3]

In the game, the player aims to build a rail-based transport network, building rail tracks, stations and depots, transporting passengers between towns to make money, and industry goods such as lumber, coal or iron to gain tokens, which can be spend on more advanced locomotives, carriages and station extensions or investing in new technological eras (three of which are currently in the game, out of seven planned).[4]

Unlike in many other train games, the player needs to build signals in order to ensure that the trains run smoothly and without accidents, and there are no computer or human opponents.[5] The game features two modes, one grid-based board-game-like mode for planning and building tracks and one 3D-mode to watch their trains in.[6]
