PEM Wikipedia Project[edit]

Edit-a-thon description[edit]

Peabody Essex Museum hosted their first Edit-a-thon on Saturday, May 3, 2014. The day was themed around enriching and adding articles pertaining to Native American and Chinese art. 25 images from the museum's permanent collection were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons in preparation for the event. Additional Native American contemporary artists and related subject articles were identified and enriched. Chinese art and culture images were also linked to appropriate subject articles on Wikipedia and the Chinese Wikipedia.

Contemporary Native American artists[edit]

Many of the Wikipedia articles on [contemporary Native American artists] are incomplete, and many significant contemporary Native American artists do not currently have their own Wikipedia articles. We'll be working to update information about these artists and add images of their works from PEM's collection.
