Format[edit]

Dr. Pait, otherwise known as Doc on the That! Medical Quiz Show,[1] begins with medical news and introduces each contestant while he banters with Lisa. Unlike many radio quiz shows, TMQS is not call-in or performed in front of live audiences.[2] The three contestants request to appear on the show or have been solicited by TMQS. After introductions, the first featured round begins, which varies every broadcast.[3] There are a total of four rounds and all contestants have the chance to answer one question per round worth one point each and a bonus round worth two points follows. Whoever accumulates the most points after the final and fast-paced bonus round, "Cardiac Capper," will receive a gag prize. Gag prizes, usually somewhat comical, have ranged from alligator wrestling lessons to items like Doc’s special pocket protector.[4] Lisa then asks a question for Doc out of the "medical quiz bag.” Every broadcast concludes with Doc’s catchphrase: "Until next time, remember that more medical knowledge means better health...because there's a little bit of doctor in all of us."

Rounds[edit]

There are four rounds and all contestants have the chance to answer one question per round worth one point each. Doc asks the question and gives the contestants three choices to choose from. Each round has a specific sound effect which provides a kind of quirky feel to the show.

Doctor vs. Quack[edit]

Dr. Pait makes a statement and contestants determine if the statement he makes is one a real doctor would make or one that would come from a phony doctor, a quack.

Ultra Sounds[edit]

The show plays a medically-related sound, something you might hear in a hospital, a doctor’s office, or in the human body. The contestants try to identify sounds that range from a whooping cough to the squeaky wheels of a hospital bed.

Illnesses of the Rich and Famous[edit]

Dr. Pait reads a description of a medical condition that has affected a public figure. Contestants will have to determine which disorder is being described from the answer choices presented.
