Museum of Fine Arts, Florida State University College of Fine Arts (MOFA)[edit]
The Museum of Fine Arts at Florida State University is located on campus at 530 West Call Street, 250 Fine Arts Building Tallahassee, Florida 32306-1140. The phone number for the museum is (850) 644-6836. Admission to the museum is always free. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm., and on Saturdays from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Nearby parking is available at the Call Street Garage on the main level. The ParkMobile app can be used to pay for parking. Personal use photography is permitted. Food and drinks are not allowed in the museum. [1]
Associations[edit]
The Museum of Fine Arts, FSU associations with the Florida Associations of Museums, the Florida Art Museum Director’s Association, the Florida Cultural Action Alliance, and the Southeastern Museum’s Conference. MoFA holds accreditation status from the American Alliance of Museums. Although the museum is affiliated with Florida State University, they do host visiting artists and exhibitions from other universities and private citizens, roundtables, and workshops.[2]
Land Acknowledgment of Florida State University[edit]
The Museum of Fine Arts, FSU is currently located on land that is considered ancestral territory of the Apalachee Nation, the Muscogee Creek Nation, the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida, and the Seminole Tribe of Florida.[2] The museum includes a statement that recognizes the historic trauma that has impacted these Nations, and current trauma induced by systemic inequities. A memorial with the recognition statement will be installed in the museum to reflect the acknowledgement of the department of the Indigenous Nations that were dispossessed of their lands, and yet still maintain resilience and strength of culture. While this is a small gesture, the museum is dedicated to fighting the silencing of the trauma caused by historic colonialism.[2]
