I'm engaging some folks to help me with some new articles. Here's what I'm up to.
What's This?[edit]
A personal bias that I am working to balance, holds that the Internet contains (but is not limited to) an intriguing chapter of the human experience. In a nutshell, I'd say (like others) "Access to Information is a Human Endeavor," and the Internet is as monumental as the printing press. Thus, I personally find notable events, junctures, and developments that affect the ability of the Internet to succeed or fail at this, interesting and inherently worthy of documenting. I suppose I see it as a chapter of history, though so often these tidbits are pigeon-holed as technology, mathematics, or commerce. The Netflix Prize was arguably all three -- but what an interesting event, at the heart of an innovation that has transformed the human experience, at least for some.
Of course, not all companies are interesting, even if the content of their commerce is. This is my page to work out the correct and appropriate balance, and contribute on Internet-related companies and their contributions of notoriety.
I've written about a dozen articles offline, but am re-learning to wiki, moving content into Wikipedia.
Related: Open Standards[edit]
Same vein, but different challenge: I think open standards are really interesting, too. Generally, commercial entities (often competitors) coming together to haggle, make concessions, and formulate a solution for how technologies will work together. It reminds me of the drafting of a new constitution. I created the SCIM article, and have looked a lot at where SAML and OpenID_Connect came from, standards boards, etc. Personally, I find the IETF much less interesting than, say, OASIS, but they both yielding great things for us.
