The shooting death of 20-year-old Terrance Kellom took place in the home of Kellom's father, April 27, 2015 on the northwest side of Detroit. Officers of a multijurisdictional apprehension team were sent to arrest Kellom. Team members alleged that Kellom charged one of them, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agent Mitchell Quinn, with a hammer and that Quinn fired multiple times in self-defense. Kellom's family disputes that Kellom charged officers or had a hammer.

According to a Wayne County Medical Examiner autopsy, Terrance Kellom died of four gunshot wounds, including one in the back.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced on August 19, 2015 that no charges would be filed in Kellom's shooting. Worthy concluded that "the actions of the agent [Quinn] were determined to be justified because he acted in lawful self-defense."

Lead-up to the shooting[edit]

The Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team, which included officers from the Detroit Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Marshals, raided the home of Kevin Kellom, Terrance Kellom's father, at about 1:00 p.m.
