  1. white ground lekythoi -- grave goods, that are made of reddish clay that become white after firing. It was a widely used style until about 400 B.C. when it became specific to the lekythoi style of pottery. Lekythoi are oil containers specific to funerals. The white background was painted with light pigment that did not survive to modern times; however, the initial drawing is still visible.
  2. Tombs and painting at Vergina -- The tombs are located in the Ancient city of Aigai (modern name Vergina) which was the first capital of Macedonia. There are more than 300 tumuli located at this site. In several of the tumuli there are painting that date from the 11th century B.C. to the 4th century B.C. Some of the paintings found here are of Greek mythology, such as Hades abducting Persephone.
  3. Marathon Tumulus -- located in Marathon Greece it is the grave of 192 Athenians that died in battle. The battle was one of the first with Persia. The Persians greatly outnumbered the Athenians and defeated them.
