Branigan Cultural Center The Branigan Cultural Center, formerly the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, is part of the Las Cruces Museum System and is dedicated to connecting its visitors with the culture-rich Southwest heritage and the world at large through artistic, cultural and historical exhibitions and programs.

History[edit]

The original building, erected in 1935, in the Spanish-Pueblo Revival style was designed by well-known El Paso, TX architect, Percy Wear McGhee Jr. The building faces south and sits between Water Street and Hadley Street. It's home to a WPA mural painted by Tom Lea. The building was remodeled in 1981, when it converted from library to cultural center. Most of the architecture, design and workmanship is reminiscent of its original and integral structure.
