The Center, New Mexico is the future site of a mock city that will be used to test various renewable natural energy technologies. A location has yet to be chosen by the site, but proposed areas include the area outside of Las Cruces and the Albuquerque-Santa Fe corridor. It will be built on a 20-square-mile piece of state-owned land. The anticipated cost is $200 million.[1] Pegasus Global Holdings, a D.C. firm, is responsible for the project. The city will be built realistically, including all necessary infrastructure, such as streets and houses. Buildings will be constructed to reflect both newer and older architecture. There will be no residents, but researchers will still be able to simulate some human life in their experiments.[2]

Profits would be made by charging researchers for using The Center to test their technology. A real town would also be built outside of The Center to house researchers during their studies.
